MALLIOTAKIS MONDAY
Labor Day Monday September 7, 5pm - 6pm
1698 Victory Boulevard
It’s Labor Day. Join us to rally against the congressperson who does not like her constituents! She voted AGAINST raising the minimum wage, AGAINST paid family leave and so much more that would benefit her constituents. Not only that but she votes nearly 100% of the time with Trump who is the most anti-labor, most anti-union, most anti-worker president since union-busting Ronald Reagan. We don’t have to put up with it anymore! Show her we’ll . Organized by Peace Action of Staten Island, a member of Staten Island for the People coalition of organizations

SIAC’s aim is to Educate, Activate and Mobilize and in that spirit, we provide some links for learning about various government initiatives … you might agree or not … but it is important to know.
Election Interference is Real - and it’s being orchestrated by Trump!
EARLY VOTING STARTS OCTOBER 24 - DEMOCRACY DEPENDS ON YOUR VOTE
STOP THE STEAL!
- Former Trump lawyer sounds the alarm - Ty Cobb was a member of Trump’s first administration and warns that his former boss will do anything to stay in power. https://tinyurl.com/mhvpe3cf
- Will the military interfere at the polls? - In January Trump to the New York Times he “regrets not seizing voting machines after 2020 election.” (https://tinyurl.com/rw837vdx). In the last few weeks Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Gen. Dan Caine, was forced to answer this question when he received a letter from Sen. Elissa Slotkin (D-Michigan) asking what the armed forces might be doing during the elections. He stated that “The Joint Force has no plans to send Federal military personnel or Federalized members of the National Guard to polling places during the 2026 elections. Likewise, the Joint Force has no plans to use such personnel to seize ballots, voting machines, or other election-related material.” (https://tinyurl.com/45zwczkt)
SIAC recommends voting early and in person

Nic’s Nonsense . . . Call and Response
Looks like we’re getting under Nic’s skin. She actually had a …. phone call? A robocall from Nic to some constituents that she was hosting a telephone town hall and if they wanted to participate, they had to call within the next 30 minutes for a chance to be chosen!
If you were on the call, please let us know what she said. And, just as a reminder …
- Nicole has never held an in-person community town hall for all her constituents in her 6 years
- Nicole serves in the least functioning Congress ever, due to excessive recess and low legislative accomplishments
- Nicole has rubber-stamped Trump’s most destructive bills to Staten Island and aligns her votes with him 95% of the time
Call her and ask her what she plans to do for us? SI 718-568-2870, DC 202-225-3371, BK 718-306-1620

THINGS TO FEEL GOOD ABOUT
- The SERVE Act - In January Senators Bernie Sanders (I-Vt) Chris Van Hollen (D-Md) and Angela Alsobrooks (D-Md) introduced a bill to ban presidents from naming buildings after themselves. (https://tinyurl.com/6fenuunk) It’s a little bit like locking the barn door after the horse ran away, but if it will prevent future presidents from exercising their arrogance, vainglory, and stupidity, we’re for it.
- No Shock Gloves for California - The California Legislature passed a bill banning law enforcement officers from using electric shock gloves in an effort to prevent federal immigration agents from deploying them. https://tinyurl.com/mrxp43uh

IMMIGRATION
The New York City ICE Hotline Number is 1-229-304-8720
- ICE already has billions of dollars - “ICE, CBP Now Sitting on $152 Billion After Republican Funding Bills. $88 Billion is from the One Big, Beautiful Bill Act and $64 Billion is from the Secure America Act.” Read the whole report https://tinyurl.com/3699y9m8
- Sign an online letter to Congress that they must reject any funding to ICE and Border Control for Fiscal 2027. In June, Congress passed the S.2 reconciliation bill that provides ICE and Border Patrol another $70,000,000,000 (that’s 70 billion dollars). Now Congress is debating whether to give these same agencies an additional $30,000,000,000 through the Fiscal Year 2027 appropriations process. Read more / sign at https://tinyurl.com/5339yxzw. Sponsored by Detention Watch Network
- Standing Up for Our Neighbors - The ICE surge on Staten Island continues, and the number of vans taking our neighbors into custody from bus stops is growing, demonstrating that arrests are based solely on racial profiling. Our community is afraid and in hiding. Watch Mary Hernandez discuss this in detail on Left in the Forgotten Borough https://tinyurl.com/msjs4uyy
- Staten Island Adopt a Corner - Adopt a Corner groups are community volunteer networks that regularly visit local street corners, parking lots, and hiring sites where day laborers gather. Inspired by the National Day Laborer Organizing Network (NDLON), these allies act as witnesses, neighbors, and protective presences to deter harassment, monitor for immigration enforcement actions, and support vulnerable immigrant workers. Our local Adopt a Corner effort in Staten Island (Juntos Seguros) needs support and volunteers. Learn more https://ndlon.org/adopt-a-day-labor-corner/ and click to register on the interest form for more information about Staten Island efforts.
- A new tool to record ICE encounters? Witness: Record Beyond Reach - So far, it’s only available for iPhones (https://apps.apple.com/us/app/witness-record-beyond-reach/id6800375426).

REMEMBER: IT’S ALL ABOUT THE TRUMP EPSTEIN PEDO-FILES
