As the leaves fall Mount Richmond Cemetery students in Jewish schools throughout the New York area come to volunteer by raking and collecting leaves; providing chesed shel emet (the highest form of charity, giving to those who have died) by cleaning the grave of people who often have no one left to visit them. Today we had a wonderful group SKA Stella K. Abraham High School For Girls. One of the students, mentioned her uncle was buried at Mount Richmond. As they left, we stopped by his grave and she was able to take a moment to remember him. May his memory always be for a blessing.

Hebrew Free Burial Association joins the rest of the Jewish community in shock and horror at the heinous attack over the Jewish holiday.
We stand in support of Israel and pray for our family in Israel during this conflict. As a partner of UJA-Federation of New York we are sharing their post to their Israel emergency fund. ( You can donate at: nyjewi.sh/uja-israel-emergency-fund )
May our soldiers, friends and family be safe during these difficult times.

UJA is allocating an initial $10 million in emergency funding from our endowment to provide immediate relief to the victims of these horrific terrorist attacks.

Far more will be needed in the days ahead. Donate now: nyjewi.sh/uja-israel-emergency-fund

Zachor — the Hebrew word for “remembrance” — appears some 200 times in the Torah. Again and again, we are commanded to remember the covenant between G-d and the Israelites; the exodus from Egypt to freedom; the Sabbath day to keep holy.

As we reach Rosh Hashanah 5784, we embrace “zachor” in at least two ways: We visit our departed loved ones in their final resting places, and we prepare to recite Yizkor in remembrance of the family, friends and martyrs who have shaped our lives.

All of us at Hebrew Free Burial Association wish you and yours a שנה טובה ומתוקה — a good, sweet new year. Thank you for remembering us and being part of the HFBA family

This morning Hebrew Free Burial Association buried two people today, who sadly had no family to es**rt them to their burial. Our volunteer minyan team was on site to ensure that both people were able to have kaddish recited graveside.

Every soul is holy and created b'tzelem Elokim - in the Image of G-d. Thank you to our volunteer minyan team for answering the call and providing support today and everyday.
