"We Volunteer Because We Care!" We cover parts of State Road, Thurmond, Devotion, Dobson, and Elkin. No problem is too big nor too small for us. It's a calling.

Mountain Park Rescue Squad, dispatched as Squad 83, is an EMS and Technical Rescue Agency that has embedded its impact in a small community in Surry County named Mountain Park since 1983. Our mission is simple: when the call for help comes, answer it. Through emergency medical intervention and specially crafted rescue techniques, we save those in our community and our neighboring districts when they need it most. It's not a job, it's not a club, it's not a hobby.

Mountain Park Rescue Squad will be holding our Annual Meeting on Tuesday, June 25th.

This meeting is an important opportunity for our community to come together, review where we are, and help shape the future leadership of the squad.

Wilderness Ready, always! Last night, rescuers trained on Carryout Operations. Objectives included proficiency with our Stokes Basket and it's patient tie-in system, navigating wooded terrain, and patient-centered care.

Our guys got....roped into some training tonight! Rescuers learned about anchors and reflex actions for simple rope rescue scenarios.

Thanks to our new 2-hour weekly training schedule, rescuers got high quality training while also getting home much earlier. If you haven't heard: our weekly trainings are from 6:30pm to 8:30pm every Tuesday.

Rescuers came in last night to train on Vehicle Accident Response Protocol. How to perform an initial scene size up, communicate effectively and concisely over the radio, and initial actions on the scene of a wreck.

This training proved beneficial for both new and Senior volunteers. You know who else it could be beneficial for? YOU!

THANK YOU to everyone who came out and met us at the free wellness clinic at White Rock Methodist Church. It was great to meet everyone and to be able to provide a free vitals check for everybody.

In the cold, in the woods, in the dark: we train for the worst day possible. Last night, rescuers practiced wilderness first aid and trauma care. We utilized a lot of new supplies and equipment (including Hifyn chest seals, Israeli bandages, and our new UTV patient transport skid) And practice basic bleeding control. We also took a chance to review protocols, hypothermia management, And team Communications in hazardous environments.

Tuesday night during our Snow Ops training, rescuers practiced maneuvering the winter environment in our new UTV1! For many of our volunteers, the squad is the first opportunity to learn how to safely operate off-road vehicles in unideal environments.
