Public Notice: Ferguson Township Planning Commision to Review Data Center Text Amendments Monday 9/14

Township staff have been working to draft text amendment(s) to the Township of Ferguson Municipal Code that would address known types of data centers, particularly those referred to as medium-scale, large-scale or 'hyperscale' data centers.

Please note, Ferguson Township currently has NO applications for any medium-scale, large-scale or 'hyperscale' data centers;

The Ferguson Township Planning Commission will discuss the current draft text amendments during the September 14, 2026, Planning Commission Work Session.

The September 14, 2026, Planning Commission Work Session will be held at 6:00PM in the Main Meeting Room at the Ferguson Township Municipal Building (3147 Research Drive, State College, PA 16801)

The Centre County Metropolitan Planning Organization (CCMPO) invites the public to review and comment on the draft Centre County Safe Streets and Roads for All (SS4A) Safety Action Plan during a 30-day public review and comment period from: Friday September 11, 2026 through Monday October 12, 2026.

As part of the comment period, the CCMPO will host public open house sessions to share the draft findings and recommendations, and gather feedback directly from residents, businesses, and other stakeholders.

Centre County received a Safe Streets and Roads for All (SS4A) grant from the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) to update the Centred on Safety Action Plan that includes project development, a comprehensive sidewalk inventory within Borough and Borough-like areas in Centre County and lane departure crash analysis. The CCMPO is seeking public input on transportation safety as part of a 30-day public comment period for the draft Centred on Safety Action Plan. The Action Plan establishes a goal to reduce roadway fatalities and serious injuries in Centre County by 22 percent by 2034. It considers the safety needs of everyone who uses the transportation system, including drivers, pedestrians, bicyclists, mobility device users, transit riders, commercial and agricultural vehicle operators, and emergency responders.

Autumnwood Park Playground Update 🛝

Beginning July 27th, the existing playground equipment will be removed and pit prep will begin at Autumnwood Park as Ferguson Township prepares to build a brand new playground in partnership with KABOOM! and the Pennsylvania Municipal League. The playground area will be closed to the public until August 15th.

Volunteers of all experience levels are needed August 13–15 to help build the new playground. Builders, registration volunteers, food volunteers, and First Aid/CPR/AED certified volunteers are all welcome. Community members are encouraged to sign up for one, two, or all three days. All volunteers will be provided with breakfast, lunch, water, gloves, safety materials, and a t-shirt to wear during the build.
