🥫 Host a Food Drive: Start Planning Early! 🥫

Hunger Action Month is a great time to start planning a food drive—and now is actually one of the most helpful times to do it!

As we look ahead to our holiday distributions, early food drives help us see what our community is generously providing so we can better plan for what we still need to purchase. Knowing what we have on hand helps us order the right products, in the right quantities, to make sure our holiday distributions are well stocked.

Businesses, schools, clubs, churches, and community groups—anyone can host a food drive!

✨ Here’s how to get started:

1️⃣ Plan Ahead – Pick your date, location, and focus items.

2️⃣ Gather Supplies – Collection bins, boxes, flyers, and volunteers.

3️⃣ Make It Fun – Add a theme or friendly competition!

4️⃣ Spread the Word – Use social media, flyers, and word of mouth.

5️⃣ Register Your Drive – Let us know so we can support you!

🎄 Thinking about a holiday food drive? Don’t wait! Organize it early so your donations can help us plan for the season ahead.

Together, we can make sure our neighbors have the food they need—especially during the holidays. 💚

🥕 Hunger Action Month: Understanding Food Insecurity 🥕

Food insecurity is about more than being hungry. It’s the ongoing challenge of having reliable access to enough nutritious food for a healthy life.

For many families, rising costs, low wages, unexpected expenses, and limited access to affordable food can make putting meals on the table a struggle. And the impact goes beyond an empty pantry—food insecurity can affect physical health, mental well-being, children’s ability to learn, and the overall strength of our community.

When our neighbors struggle with food, our whole community feels the impact.

This Hunger Action Month, let’s raise awareness, challenge the stigma around hunger, and work together to make sure everyone in Centre County has access to the food they need.

💚 Together, we can help end hunger and build a healthier, stronger community.

September is Hunger Action Month, a national moment when communities everywhere raise awareness and take steps against hunger.

Our mission here never really pauses. One day, no one will go hungry in this community. This month simply gives us a chance to reinforce this and rally our neighbors who are passionate about it.

If this mission speaks to you, we would be so grateful if you shared this post. Every share helps more neighbors know we are here.

Imagine a night out where the music is great, and the impact is even better.

Every ticket to our Benefit Concert helps stock our shelves and keep our grocery-style pantry running for the households who count on us here in Centre County. About 85% of the food we provide comes directly from local generosity like yours, which means your support truly stays close to home.

If you know someone who would love a night that gives back, we would be so grateful if you brought them along. Learn more and grab your tickets at https://thestatetheatre.org/events/a-great-big-world-2026/?occurrence=2026-09-14.
