Marshall Grant discussing Johnny Cash's flower pickin' experience in Starkville. Grant spoke at the Starkville Public Library in 2007 and was an integral part of the festival's planning. Mr. Grant died in yesterday. We'll miss you, dear friend.

Marshall Grant, architect of Johnny Cash's boom-chicka-boom sound and bass player, died last night. He was instrumental to the organizing and planning of Johnny Cash Flower Pickin' Festival in Starkville. He was a great performer and even greater man. We'll miss you, friend.

Organizer: No Johnny Cash festival this year (Quotes from Kathy Cash Tittle)

Festival organizer Robbie Ward on Thursday announced the event will not take place this year due to financial, promotional and time constraints. However, Ward would not rule out bringing the festival back to Starkville in the future.
