Starkville Fire Department The Starkville Fire Department is a Career Department with approximately 65 to 70 full time employees. We are currently a class 3 insurance rating.

We have 5 fire stations with 3 ladder trucks, 4 engines, 2 rescue vehicles, 1 hazmat truck, and 2 trailers with specialized rescue equipment. We serve a population of around 30,000, plus the Mississippi State University Campus, which adds about 20,000 people on a normal day. We have three (3) divisions: Operations, Training, and Fire Prevention. Operations are made up of 1 Battalion Chief, 1 Capt

ain, 5 Lieutenants, 5 Sergeants, and 10 firefighters on each shift, there are three (3) shifts. Training Division is made up of 1 Training Officer and 3 on shift Assistant Training Officers. Fire Prevention is made up of 1 Fire Marshal and 1 Fire Inspector and 4 Fire Investigators. All employees at a min. are required to be NFPA FF 1001 and Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT).

Today marks an important milestone for three of our newest firefighters. After successfully completing their two-week probationary orientation program, they are now beginning their journey toward becoming professional firefighters with the Starkville Fire Department.

Starting their shift assignments, they will now enter the next phase of training—where hands-on experience, dedication, and continuous learning will help shape them into the firefighters our community depends on.

UPDATE: We are happy to report that the sweet puppy that was dropped off at our fire station has found a loving new home!

We would like to extend a sincere thank you to everyone who called, shared our post, offered assistance, and expressed interest in helping this little guy. The overwhelming support from our community was truly heartwarming and is a great reminder of what makes City of Starkville, MS such a special place.

🐾 Help Us Find This Sweet Pup a Home! 🐾

Earlier this evening, while our firefighters were responding to an E911 emergency call, someone left this sweet puppy at Fire Station 1 in a box along with some food.

We are grateful that this person chose the fire station as a safe place and ensured the puppy was cared for rather than leaving him in an unsafe location. While the Starkville Fire Department is always happy to help when we can, we are unfortunately not able to provide a permanent home for him.

If you or someone you know would be interested in giving this puppy a loving home, he is currently being cared for at Fire Station 1, located at 503 East Lampkin Street.

If a home is not found this evening, we will safely transport him to the animal shelter tomorrow.

🚒 Help Us Congratulate Our Newest Professional Firefighters! 🚒

Please join us in congratulating Firefighters Graham Murphree, Joseph Phillips, and Chance Null on graduating from the Mississippi State Fire Academy and earning their certification as Professional Firefighters.MS State Fire Academy

Over the past seven weeks, these firefighters have successfully completed an intensive training program that challenged them both physically and mentally while preparing them to serve and protect our community with excellence.

We are extremely proud of their hard work, dedication, and commitment to the fire service. Their accomplishment marks the beginning of what we know will be outstanding careers serving the citizens of Starkville. City of Starkville, MS

🚒💦 Fire safety, learning, and a whole lot of fun!

Over the last two days, the Starkville Fire Department had the pleasure of spending time with the Boys & Girls Club of Starkville. We enjoyed showing the kids our fire trucks, firefighting equipment, and giving them a behind-the-scenes look at what firefighters do every day.

The group also visited Fire Station 1 for a station tour, where they learned important fire safety tips, explored the station, and got to see how we live and work while serving our community.

Of course, no summer visit to the fire station would be complete without a little fun in the water! 💦😎

🔥 Engine 3 crew putting in some work today on Garrard Rd. after responding to this vehicle fire! Thanks to a quick response and fast action by crews, the fire was extinguished safely.

Most importantly — no injuries were reported and the driver was able to get out of the vehicle safely. 🚒💪

Earlier this morning, the Starkville Fire Department responded to a motor vehicle accident involving a vehicle that struck a building at 1424 Louisville St. Thankfully, no injuries were reported as a result of the incident. We appreciate the quick response and teamwork from all agencies involved.
