URGENT UPDATE
Please see the press release copied below regarding the change in coordinators for the Starke Shop With a Cop event.
We are sad to inform the community of this change, as Sarah Mosley worked for almost 15 years to take over the event after her father. However, the Bradford County Sheriff's Office has decided to take over the event this year.
Barry Warren created and coordinated this event for 19 years. However, none of it would have been possible without YOU, the members, businesses, and organizations of Bradford County.
Thank you Bradford, for 19 years of putting a smile on a child's face for Christmas ❤️
Press Release:
The Warren Project Corp President, Sarah Mosley, regrets to inform the public of a change in who will be coordinating this year’s Shop With a Cop event. In May, Mosley met with Sheriff Smith to inform him of her plans to start the organization with the intention of saving the event her father created and coordinated for 19 years. Mosley has prepared and planned to coordinate the event, in her father’s footsteps, for almost 15 years. Once her corporation was up and running, Mosley reached out to Sheriff Smith again, and she began contacting past contributors, local agencies who typically es**rt children at the event, and even the school district to schedule the event dates. After this, Mosley received communication from members of BCSO, and she was invited to attend a meeting on November 12th to discuss the future of Shop With a Cop.
At this meeting, Mosley joined Sheriff Smith and members of his administration at the Bradford County Sheriff’s Office. She listened to their opinions and ideas regarding Shop With a Cop. She advised against some of their ideas, as they seemed less than beneficial for the children of Bradford County, or they did not align with the event’s purpose. It was made clear at this meeting that the Sheriff’s Office planned to take over coordination and planning efforts for the event. However, they invited Mosley to assist them, given her knowledge of how the event had been coordinated in the past. Mosley considered this offer, but ultimately turned it down due to one major change they were planning to make. The Sheriff’s Office plans to limit the number of children who attend the event regardless of how much money is raised or donated by the community. Mosley could not in good faith support this decision because that would cut the number of children by over 50%, and thus, it would deny the opportunity to hundreds of children, who deserve a smile for Christmas.
At this time, The Warren Project Corp will not be affiliated with this year’s event, nor will Mrs. Mosley. If any funds have already been sent via mail, they will be transferred to the appropriate account at BCSO. Mrs. Mosley is deeply saddened by this outcome as she has worked her whole life to carry on her father’s legacy. However, she is still proud of and grateful for the community, businesses, agencies, and organizations of Bradford County, who have made this event possible for the last 19 years. If there are any further questions regarding the event, they should be addressed with the Bradford County Sheriff’s Office.
