*Attention Starke Residents*
City politicians are gambling with your safety ! If the current budget proposal is approved, the Starke Fire Department will be CUT IN HALF and will reduce our ability to respond to your emergency. Share this message and tell your council member that this is unacceptable.
Come show you support @ the August 1 commission meeting 5:30.

The firefighters of Starke Fire Rescue would like to again thank everyone for their unwavering support and to those who showed up to the June 20th meeting and to those who spoke on ours and their behalf, Thank You!

Although Starke Fire Rescue was voted to remain in city control, the department is still facing damaging budget cuts. The current proposed budget will still cut 6 firefighters from the department, making 2 man per shift. The safety and efficiency of the remaining firefighters to be able to preform their duties to protect and serve the community we so love will be effected.

The next city council meeting is scheduled for this Tuesday night at 5:30pm. We are inviting any and everyone to attend this meeting. Let's pack the house again and show the city commissioners how important the Starke Fire Department is to the safety and well-being of the citizens of Starke!

Would like to thank all who came out to the commission meeting to support the Fire Dept last night. We are happy that the commission voted 3-2 in favor of keeping the department. Thank you commission for listening to the concerns the department had and hearing the people out

We ask for your continued support as we move forward to keep you safe and serve our citizens.

As the city looks to cut your local Fire Department, the local sees these cuts to effect the citizens of Starke in a negative way. This is a huge concern as you can see the number of calls the department runs. These guys aren’t just sitting around everyday, they are out serving it’s citizens.

Not sure if anyone is aware, but on May 2nd, the City of Starke commissioners voted to approve a balanced budget that will cut funding to both Starke Police Department and Starke Fire Rescue. The cuts will be more than $1,000,000. This will cause 6 firefighters to lose their job and reduce staffing by 50% and 4 police officers to lose their job.

Currently, there are 12 full-time firefighters plus the fire chief. The fire department has 4 people on duty at all times. These cuts will reduce it to 2 firefighters at all times, effectively reducing the firefighters' ability to safely and efficiently do their job.

Then, on May 16th, the city commissioners voted to receive proposals from both the Sheriff and the Bradford County Manager/Bradford County Fire Rescue to take over law enforcement and fire fighting duties for the City of Starke.

Your commissioners, if you live in the City of Starke, are looking to dissolve your Police Department and Fire Department without the input of the citizens that will be mostly affected by this. Of the 13 members of Starke Fire Rescue, all but 2 have 10 plus years of experience with most more than 13 years with the City of Starke.

If this is concerning at all to you and we truly care what happens to our first Responders, then I highly recommend you contact your local commissioners.
