City of Star Recreation has TWO fun School Day Out Field Trips coming up this September! Give the kids a day packed with exploring, playing, and making memories while school is out!

Get ready for a WILD day visiting the animals and exploring Zoo Boise!

🍎 CHERRY HILL FARMS

A fall adventure filled with farm fun, outdoor activities, and plenty to explore!

Both trips are for children ages 4–11 and participants must be potty trained. A transportation waiver is required, and children should bring a cold lunch and water bottle.

Whose ready to Trick or Treat 🎃👻💀

We’re looking for trunks for Star’s annual Trunk-or-Treat! 🚗🎃🍬

This year brings a big change — Trunk-or-Treat is moving to the Riverhouse Pasture at 960 S. Main Street! Even better, the new parking lot will be open for the event, giving families plenty of convenient parking.

We’re inviting businesses, organizations, community groups and individuals to decorate a vehicle and join us for an afternoon of Halloween fun. Trunk-or-Treat draws well over 1,000 people each year, so it’s also a great way for local organizations and businesses to meet Star families.

🏆 NEW THIS YEAR: Best Trunk Contest!

Bring your creativity! The Mayor and our event team will choose the Best Trunk, and the winner will receive $250! Hosting is easy: decorate your vehicle, bring plenty of candy and hand out treats from 3:00–5:00 PM. There is no fee to participate.

As we close out another incredible summer at Freedom Park ☀️Rentals, we want to thank everyone who came to visit and support us. We had a fantastic year, and we are so grateful for every person who helped make it special!

A heartfelt thank-you to 🚨Star Police SRO Alan Takeuchi for his continued mentorship of our college and teenage staff. This is our second year benefiting from his leadership, and the knowledge, wisdom, and training he has shared with our team are truly invaluable.
We are also grateful to the other Star Police officers who stopped by, checked in on us, and provided guidance while helping keep our park safe throughout the summer. Your support means more than we can say, and we will be forever grateful.

Thank you to our ⭐️Director Ryan Field, for always being there, especially during medical emergencies and for continually serving as a trusted mentor to our college and teenage staff. Your leadership, encouragement, and willingness to step in whenever needed made a tremendous difference.

We also want to recognize our amazing 👏🏻Star Recreation staff, who worked seven days a week through the summer heat and smoke. Thank you for your hard work, positive attitudes, and dedication to keeping our parks and bathrooms clean and welcoming all season long.

Year Two ✌🏻was a huge success, and we cannot wait to see what Year Three brings!

Every year, we love finding ways to let our teachers know just how much we appreciate all they do for our students and our community! ❤️
