In 2025, we introduced our code enforcement position and welcomed a new addition to the team. This year, he’s taking the next step in his career and joining the Ada County Sheriff's Office as a patrol deputy. We are excited for him and grateful for his service to Star.

We would now like to welcome our new code enforcement specialist, Tim Zins!

Tim has more than 30 years of law enforcement experience, including roles as a patrol officer, training officer, K9 handler, narcotics detective, patrol sergeant, and administrative sergeant. After retiring in 2022, he joined the Ada County Sheriff’s Office as a code enforcement specialist for the City of Kuna. Tim is looking forward to serving the Star community and getting to know its residents.

If you see Tim out and about, be sure to give him a wave and say hello!

We had the opportunity to es**rt Noah Coughlan through Star yesterday. Noah is crossing through every state on foot for “Run for America” in honor of America 250. We had the privilege to present Noah with an American 250 hat (first one Noah has seen on his trek, he was super excited for that) and a challenge coin from Trevor A. Chadwick, City of Star Mayor.

He was es**rted by Deputy Maxey, Code Enforcement Specialist Tim Zins, Detective Day, and our Admin Assistant Jada. At the Ada/Canyon border, we passed on the es**rt to the Middleton Police Department and the Canyon County Sheriff’s Office. Noah will be finishing the last leg of his trek in Hawaii on July 4th.

It was a privilege to stand beside law enforcement officers from across the state this morning to honor and remember those who lost their lives in service to our communities. We will always remember and never forget.

Star Deputies made a stop at a lemonade stand this weekend to support young entrepreneurs. These kids were promoting a powdered drink mix and running it like a real business.

We grabbed a cup, gave it a try, and it passed the official deputy taste test!

It is always great to see kids in the community getting creative and working together in their neighborhoods!

We’ve got a moose on the loose in the area of River Birch Golf Course — if you spot him, please give him some space.

We do not recommend giving him a muffin, trying to pet him or getting in close for a selfie. Moose may look awkward, but they’re fast and can become aggressive if they feel threatened.

Please see below for more information about a crash that occurred earlier this evening in a Star parking lot.

On April 29, 2026, at about 4:29 p.m., Star Police deputies were dispatched to the 11000 block of W. State St. in Star for a report of an injury crash involving a vehicle and a pedestrian in a private parking lot.

Preliminary information indicates that a 90-year-old male driver of a red 2017 Ram 1500 was attempting to park in a stall when his 87-year-old female passenger exited the vehicle and stood in front of it to help guide him into the space. The driver unintentionally drove forward, striking her. Based on the initial investigation, this incident appears to be a tragic accident with no indication of foul play.

Deputies and paramedics provided lifesaving aid at the scene. The female was transported to a local hospital, where she later passed away as a result of her injuries. The Ada County Coroner’s Office may release her identity at a later time pending notification of next of kin.

This incident is currently under investigation by the Ada County Sheriff's Office Collision Reconstruction Team.

Anyone who witnessed the incident or has information is asked to contact [email protected] or non-emergency dispatch at (208) 377-6790. To remain anonymous, tips may also be submitted through the Ada County Sheriff’s Office mobile app, available in the Apple App Store and on Google Play.
