𝗧𝗥𝗔𝗩𝗘𝗟 𝗔𝗗𝗩𝗜𝗦𝗢𝗥𝗬

Following a review of current weather and roadway conditions, which are showing improvement, the previously issued 𝗧𝗥𝗔𝗩𝗘𝗟 𝗕𝗔𝗡 𝗵𝗮𝘀 𝗯𝗲𝗲𝗻 𝗹𝗶𝗳𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗱𝗼𝘄𝗻𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝗮 𝗧𝗥𝗔𝗩𝗘𝗟 𝗔𝗗𝗩𝗜𝗦𝗢𝗥𝗬 for St. Lawrence County.

While conditions are improving, 𝗿𝗼𝗮𝗱𝘄𝗮𝘆𝘀 𝗺𝗮𝘆 𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗮𝗶𝗻 𝗶𝗰𝘆 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗵𝗮𝘇𝗮𝗿𝗱𝗼𝘂𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝗰𝗲𝗿𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻 𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘀, particularly on untreated roads, bridges, and secondary roadways. Motorists should continue to exercise caution as conditions may vary throughout the county.

Residents are advised to avoid unnecessary travel when possible and to use caution if travel is required. Drivers should reduce speeds, increase following distance, and remain alert for emergency responders and changing road conditions.

Due to 𝘀𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝘄𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗱𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀, including freezing rain and widespread icy roadways, the previously issued 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘃𝗲𝗹 𝗮𝗱𝘃𝗶𝘀𝗼𝗿𝘆 𝗵𝗮𝘀 𝗯𝗲𝗲𝗻 𝘂𝗽𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝗮 𝗧𝗥𝗔𝗩𝗘𝗟 𝗕𝗔𝗡, which is now in effect for St. Lawrence County and will remain in effect until conditions improve.

Current road conditions throughout the county are extremely hazardous and present a significant risk to motorists, emergency responders, and public safety personnel. Ice accumulation has resulted in dangerous travel conditions and the potential for motor vehicle crashes, stranded motorists, and delayed emergency response.

- 𝗢𝗻𝗹𝘆 𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗿𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗰𝘆 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘃𝗲𝗹 𝘀𝗵𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 𝗯𝗲 𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗺𝗽𝘁𝗲𝗱.

Residents are urged to remain off roadways until weather and road conditions improve and this travel ban is lifted.

* WHAT...Significant icing expected. Total ice accumulations between four and seven tenths of an inch. Winds gusting as high as 35 mph, but up to 50 mph in the Saint Lawrence Valley on Monday afternoon. * WHERE...Portions of northern New York and central, northeast, northwest, and southern Vermont. * WHEN...Until 4 PM EST Monday. * IMPACTS...Significant ice accumulation on power lines and tree limbs may cause scattered power outages. Travel could be nearly impossible, especially the Monday morning commute. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...The heaviest ice accumulation will occur between midnight and 10 AM Monday. Temperatures quickly fall behind freezing with gusty winds on Monday afternoon and evening, may cause addition power outages into Tuesday morning.
