BREAKING NEWS FROM PENNDOT DISTRICT 12
FOR PERRY TOWNSHIP RESIDENTS!!!

Tentative Bids October 23, 2025

Layton Bridge - The project involves the construction of a new two-lane bridge crossing the Youghiogheny
River on an alignment just to the south of the existing bridge. The relocated Route 4038 will take the
existing single-lane tunnel and bridge out of service. The new bridge would be constructed to meet current
design standards consisting of two 11-foot lanes with 5-foot shoulders for a total curb-to-curb width of 32-
feet. The new alignment to the south of the existing crossing will be constructed while the existing Layton
Bridge remains functional, providing uninterrupted access between Layton and Perryopolis during
construction. The existing single-lane Washington Run bridge near Falbo Road will be replaced with a new
two-lane bridge as part of this project, providing a two-lane facility for the full length of the transportation
corridor in this area. Preservation repairs will also be performed at the existing two-lane bridge carrying
Route 4038 over Washington Run near Strawn Road.
