Have you ever wondered what happens behind the scenes on Election Day? Here's your chance to be part of the process!

The City of Staples is looking for Election Judges to help at the polling place for the August 11 Primary Election and the November 3 General Election. Election Judges assist voters, help maintain accurate election records, and play an important role in ensuring elections run smoothly.

Election Judges are paid for their service and receive training before Election Day. No previous experience is necessary.

Interested individuals must be eligible to vote in Minnesota and willing to attend a training session prior to the election.

The City of Staples recently planted 20 maple trees in the Legacy Arboretum and Nature Trail, adding to the beauty of this community space and helping ensure it can be enjoyed for generations to come.

A special thank you to the Staples-Motley FFA students and advisor who volunteered their time and energy to help with the planting. Their hard work is a great example of community members coming together to make a lasting impact.

The City of Staples has completed the installation of two new outdoor warning sirens to replace aging sirens within the community.

These improvements were made possible through a $50,000 Impact Grant awarded by Sourcewell for the purchase of three new warning sirens. The first siren was installed near the Dower Lake storm shelter last fall, and the remaining two sirens were installed yesterday.

Outdoor warning sirens play an important role in helping keep our community informed during severe weather and other emergencies. We are grateful to Sourcewell for their support in helping us improve emergency preparedness and public safety for residents and visitors alike.

A special thank you to Kripa from Williams Floral & Nursery for the outstanding work on the downtown planters and flower boxes. Her creativity, dedication, and attention to detail have truly enhanced the beauty of our community.

If you havenโ€™t had the opportunity to see them yet, take a stroll through downtown or along the highway to admire the stunning displays. The care and effort that Kripa and her team have invested in these planters and flower boxes are evident in every arrangement.

Weโ€™re still working on confirming exactly where itโ€™s headed and what itโ€™s for, but these oversized loads are always entertaining to watch come through town!

With the recent rain and warm temperatures, lawns and weeds are growing quickly throughout the community.

The City of Staples would like to remind property owners and occupants that maintaining lawns and controlling weeds is an important part of keeping our neighborhoods safe, attractive, and free from nuisance conditions. This includes maintaining not only your property, but also the boulevard area adjacent to your property.

If your lawn is starting to get ahead of you, now is a great time to get it mowed before it becomes a problem.
