🌊 The Stillaguamish River may look inviting, but cold water is a serious risk—even on hot days.
Water temperatures remain low year-round and can cause cold shock or hypothermia in minutes. This can impact breathing, strength, and your ability to stay afloat.
✅ Always wear a properly fitted life jacket
✅ Limit time in the water
✅ Go with a partner—never alone
Cold water can overwhelm even strong swimmers. Plan ahead so your day stays safe.

☀️ Warmer weather means more people heading to the Stillaguamish River this weekend. Enjoy the sunshine—but stay alert.
River currents can be stronger than they look, even for experienced swimmers. Hidden hazards like undercurrents, submerged debris, and drifted logs can quickly turn dangerous. River levels and flow can also change rapidly.
✅ Wear a life jacket
✅ Stay aware of your surroundings
✅ Never swim or float alone
Your safety starts with preparation—make smart choices before you hit the water.

🌞 Warmer weather = open windows
⚠️ But that also means increased risk for young children
Most window falls happen in late spring and early summer, when windows are open more often.
✅ Prevention is simple:
🪟 Install window stops (limit openings to 4 inches)
🪑 Move furniture away from windows
🚫 Never rely on a screen to keep a child safe
💙 Good news: Free window stops are available for families who need them, thanks to generous grant funding.
