“We are not simply helping them through a crisis. We are creating the opportunity for them to build extraordinary futures.”

Our CEO, Pooja Bhalla, DNP, shared these words about Stephanie Jeffcoat, a former Illumination client who rebuilt her life after experiencing homelessness, addiction, and incarceration. Today, Stephanie has earned multiple college degrees, leads her own nonprofit, and is headed to law school.

Her story reflects the possibilities that can open up when people have access to care, support, and opportunities to move forward. 💙

In Authority Magazine's “Heroes of the Homeless Crisis” series, Dr. Bhalla discusses what’s driving homelessness, the role of recuperative care, and why homelessness is a systems failure, not a personal one.

𝘔𝘪𝘯𝘪-𝘔𝘦𝘥𝘪𝘤𝘢𝘭 𝘚𝘤𝘩𝘰𝘰𝘭 is back at Illumination Health + Home. 🩺🧠🫀

For families in our shelters, stable housing is the starting point — not the whole story. Through our Children & Families program, kids get access to opportunities and experiences beyond a roof over their heads. 𝘔𝘪𝘯𝘪-𝘔𝘦𝘥𝘪𝘤𝘢𝘭 𝘚𝘤𝘩𝘰𝘰𝘭 is one of them: four weeks of hands-on lessons with Dr. Gregory Kennedy (Rady Children's Health - Orange County) on how the body works — the heart , the brain, healthy eating, exercise, breathing, blood, bones, emotions.

Every Monday, kids ask questions, explore, and build habits that last a lifetime. Thank you, Dr. Kennedy. 🌞

Congratulations to our CEO, Dr. Pooja Bhalla, on being named a shortlisted nominee for the OC Executive Forum & Leadership Awards. The recognition reflects what she's built over nine years at IHH, expanding our work to disrupt the cycle of homelessness across Orange County. Finalists announced September 9.

Our CEO, Dr. Pooja Bhalla, took Illumination Health + Home's story to Washington last month. At the National Conference on Ending Homelessness, she joined a panel on Medicaid and healthcare partnerships — sharing how our recuperative care program has cut Medicaid costs by nearly a third for the people we serve.

She and IHH senior leader Jordan Hoiberg also met with lawmakers on Capitol Hill to advocate for the policies that keep programs like ours running.

Healing requires a home. Pooja made sure DC heard it.

Our clients enjoyed delicious, fresh chicken, rice, and bean bowls with a variety of tasty toppings, along with sweet treats from Duck Donuts.
