⚠️Drug Overdose Alert⚠️ Between May 21 and May 27, 2026, Fayette County experienced a concerning rise in drug-related incidents, reporting 33 nonfatal and 1 fatal suspected drug overdose EMS encounters. It is vital for individuals using drugs in the area to exercise caution. ODMAP monitors these encounters to pinpoint overdose clusters in Kentucky and issues alerts when a county experiences an unusual spike in nonfatal drug overdose-related EMS encounters within a 24-hour timeframe. Currently, Bourbon County has reported 3 overdoses from last Thursday to this Thursday, contributing to a total of 8 cases this month.

What You Can Do:
▪️Call 911 if you suspect an overdose.
▪️Keep naloxone readily available; it can reverse overdoses from
various substances, including those containing fentanyl.
▪️Visit local health departments for overdose prevention supplies.
▪️Advocate for naloxone distribution sites.
▪️Reach out to 1-800-696-1996 for overdose prevention services.
▪️Seek support for Substance Use Disorder at findhelpnowky.org
or call the appropriate numbers for assistance.
▪️Check in on others to share this important information.

Our character building sessions concluded with Bowen Elementary’s 3rd grade class, where we reviewed the importance of kindness, patience, and honesty. Students reflected on the skills they have been practicing throughout the year and discussed ways to continue showing strong character during summer break. We also included a summer handout filled with reminders and simple activities to encourage families and their student to keep building these positive habits at home and in their community.
