🚨 SCAM ALERT — FRAUDULENT COURT NOTICE BEING SENT OUT 🚨

The Stanton Police Department has recently been made aware of fake “court enforcement notices” being circulated claiming to be from the State of Michigan or local district courts. These notices are not legitimate.

The documents are made to look official and are intended to pressure recipients into making an immediate payment by threatening court action, collections, license suspension, or additional penalties.

Many of these notices contain things such as:

• Wording like “Final Enforcement Notice” or “No Further Warning”
• Claims that your account is in default or active enforcement
• Multiple listed violations on one form
• QR codes or payment links directing you to pay immediately

These scams are designed to create panic and get you to act before verifying the information.

Please remember — legitimate courts and state agencies do not send random payment demands directing citizens to scan QR codes or submit payment through suspicious links.

If you receive a notice like this:

• Do not scan any QR code
• Do not click on unknown payment links
• Do not provide personal or banking information
• Do not call unfamiliar phone numbers listed on the form

Instead, independently verify the information by contacting the court directly using a trusted phone number or official website. You may also check with the Michigan Secretary of State regarding your driving status if the notice references traffic-related issues.

If you are unsure whether a notice you received is legitimate, feel free to contact the Stanton Police Department before making any payment. We would be happy to assist you in determining whether it is fraudulent.
