It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of former Stanley Police Chief Roy Fredrickson.
Chief Fredrickson was sworn in as a patrol officer for the City of Stanley on October 24th, 1985. He later completed the 320-hour recruit training program at VTAE District One - Eau Claire (currently known as Chippewa Valley Technical College) in March of 1986 and became certified as a law enforcement officer by the Wisconsin Law Enforcement Standards Board on June 4, 1986.
He worked as a patrol officer for the City of Stanley until January of 1993 when he was appointed to the position of Police Chief, a position he held until his retirement in August of 2011.
We are incredibly grateful for Chief Fredrickson's service to our community and are certainly going to miss seeing him around town. Those of us that had the privilege of knowing him will forever cherish the time and memories that we were able to make with him over the years.
We are especially thinking of his wife Linda, along with his daughters Kayla and Deanne and their families during this very difficult time. May they find peace and comfort in knowing that Roy lived a life filled with integrity, a heart for service and an immense love for his family.

Obituary:
Roy Scott Fredrickson, 66 of Stanley, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 31, 2026 surrounded by his family after a short battle with cancer. Roy was born on August 28, 1960; the 5th child of the late LaVerne and Ilene (Johnson) Fredrickson. He grew up north of Boyd on the family farm where he learned his hard work ethic and life skills that carried him through his life.
He graduated from Stanley-Boyd High in the class of 1978. Roy was united in marriage to Linda Kiraly on October 23, 1982 at Holy Family Catholic Church-Stanley. The couple had two daughters: Kayla and Deanne.
Roy was a man of many trades: Police Officer, mechanic, bus driver, and softball player. In 1983 he took an 8 week police program and was hired at the City of Stanley. He served 26 years -19 as Chief of Police. Roy also drove bus for the school district; making many trips on his grandkids routes and with the wrestling team. Roy also was a mechanic, always a farmer, and was a softball player for the Buzzards. He was the first player from Wisconsin to hit a homerun on the Canadian field.
Roy is survived by his wife, Linda, his daughters, Kayla (Roger Scott) Weltzin, and their children, Riley, Carter, Abby, and Tyler, and daughter, Deanne LeTendre, and her children, Jaxen and Gannon LeTendre, Raeleigh (Dayne Vojtik) Graham, one great granddaughter, Freya Vojtik and his siblings, Sue, Richard (Linda), LaVerne (Kris), David (Lois), Gary (Cheryl), Jim (Deb) Steve (Angie), Laura Nimon, Amy (Greg) Maziarka, his sisters in law, Jean Fredrickson, Luann Hofkes, Karen Johnson and Kim Kiraly and brothers in law, Robert and John (Sue) Kiraly. He is further survived by many nieces and nephews and cousins and friends.
Roy is preceded in death by his parents, his in laws, Dean and Jackie Kiraly, his granddaughter, Aubree Jean LeTendre, and brothers, Michael and Jeffrey in infancy.
Visitation will be from 4-8 PM on Thursday, September 3rd at the Plombon Funeral Home - Stanley and Friday one hour prior to services at the church.
A memorial service will be held at 11AM on Friday, September 4th, at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church-Stanley with Pastor Kenneth Schmidt officiating. Inurnment will follow in Holy Family Cemetery-Stanley with a gathering at the Stanley Community Center after.
