Congratulations to Wayne Brown for being named the 2026 Lincoln County Schools Fred Award winner at last week's board meeting. Wayne is a school bus driver for the district. He was presented his award at last week’s working board meeting.

The Fred Award is reserved for our classified support staff that consistently go above and beyond the call of duty for students and staff. Fred Award nominees are the beacon of brightness in buildings that seek little to no affirmation, but continually step up to the plate to make a difference in the lives of students and the culture of schools.

Inspired by well-known author Mark Sanborn, the award is named in honor of Fred Shea, the subject of Sanborn's national bestseller, The Fred Factor. Nominations for this distinctive award should embody the four principles described in the book - an individual who chooses to make a positive difference each day, has a heart for people, changes ordinary moments into memorable ones, and leads by example.

πŸ“£ SHOW UP, LINCOLN COUNTY β€” LET’S WIN! πŸ†

High Attendance Day is Wednesday, September 9!
High Attendance Day is a statewide competition that challenges Kentucky schools to see who can achieve the highest percentage of students in attendance. Schools compete in six divisions based on grade level and enrollment β€” and every student who shows up helps our schools get closer to another championship!
And Lincoln County has something to defend. πŸ†πŸ†πŸ†πŸ†

Last year, Lincoln County brought home FOUR High Attendance Day championships:

πŸ† Small Elementary - Crab Orchard Elementary
πŸ† Large Elementary - Stanford Elementary
πŸ† Large Middle School - Lincoln County Middle School
πŸ† Large High School - Lincoln County High School
That is an incredible accomplishment β€” and this year, we want to do it again!

On Wednesday, September 9, we need every student who can be at school to SHOW UP! When our students are in their classrooms, they aren’t just helping us compete with schools from across Kentucky β€” they’re learning, growing, and making Lincoln County stronger.

πŸ”΄ One County.
βšͺ One Team.
πŸ”΅ One Goal.

DEFEND OUR CHAMPIONSHIPS!

πŸ“… Tuesday, September 9
πŸŽ’ Be at school. Be on time. Be counted.
LET’S WIN, LINCOLN COUNTY! πŸ†
