Thank you to all who joined us for the Winter Mapathon this past week! We really appreciated your enthusiasm, openness to learning, and dedication to Missing Maps’ mission!! And a very special thank you to the Branner Earth Sciences Library for hosting and co-organizing the event in honor of Love Data Week 2026!

Over the course of the event, we successfully mapped 🎉 1542 buildings 🎉 in the eastern Chad region! This effort will be instrumental towards the initiative of Médecins Sans Frontières (Doctors Without Borders), who aims to provide critical medical care to host communities, addressing infectious disease, improving sanitation in refugee camps, and combatting malnutrition.

For those who are interested in getting involved in or continuing work with Missing Maps, feel free to explore more of the mapping projects on the Humanitarian OSM Tasking Manger. You’ll also have the opportunity to participate in our next Mapathon this coming spring!

Once again, thank you all for your energy and contributions! We hope to see you at more of our upcoming events!
