At approximately 4:05 this afternoon crews responded to a single vehicle rollover at the intersection of Oakhill Rd and Boundary Rd.
Upon arrival crews found a truck that had been traveling westbound on Boundary Rd left the road on the right side, struck a guardrail and became airborne, hitting multiple trees as it was rolling over and came to a rest 70+ feet down an embankment.
The driver did not appear to be seriously injured however he was trapped in the vehicle.
After completion of the patient extrication crews set up a pully system to safely get the patient back up to the road for the awaiting ambulance.

At 1700 hours today Standish Fire & EMS received a call for a missing paddle boarder in the area of Wards Cove on Sebago Lake. This triggered a multi agency response with the CCSO, Sebago Fire, Windham Fire, Gorham Fire, Raymond Fire and the Maine Warden Service Marine units. After a roughly one hour search between Wards cove and the west shore of Frye Island the individual was safely located.

We would like to remind everyone on the water to have a properly fitting life jacket with them.

Today all of our fire apparatus are undergoing annual pump testing, an NFPA requirement that ensures our pumps meet or exceed their rated capacity. Our pumps range in capacity from 1,250 gallons per minute all the way up to 2,000 gallons per minute. Regular maintenance and testing like this helps make sure they are ready to go when they are needed most.

Standish Man Arrested in Connection with Two Residential Fires

The Office of State Fire Marshal has arrested a Standish man in connection with two fires reported at a residence on River Meadows Drive in Standish last month. Investigators determined both fires were intentionally set. At approximately 11:00 am, on Wednesday, August 12, 2026, Fire Marshal investigators met with 42-year-old Timothy Nickels of Standish following his release from a local hospital, where he had been undergoing an evaluation. Nickels was arrested and charged with two counts of Arson and one count of Failure to Report a Fire. He was transported to the Cumberland County Jail.

The first fire at Nickels’ residence was reported at approximately 9:30 pm, on Wednesday, July 22, 2026, and was relatively small. A second fire was reported just before 5:00 am, the following morning, Thursday, July 23, 2026. The second fire destroyed the garage attached to the home. No one was injured in either fire. Nickels remains at the Cumberland County Jail. The investigation is ongoing.

Standish Fire & EMS along with Mutual-aid departments with be conducting a large field burn training. Located behind 30 Northeast Rd today at 10:00. This will cause smoke in the area, traffic should not be affected.
