🌲🌳It's Forest Friday!🌳🌲

Did you know that Michigan has almost 20 million acres of forest? That's over 50% of the total land in our state (Not including inland bodies of water)!

The USFS 2025 Michigan Snapshot estimated a whopping total of 19,907,204 acres that are covered by forests. This equates to 14,016,162,972 individual living trees‼️

The Arenac Conservation District would like to introduce Autumn as our new forester! Autumn is excited to get to know the people within the conservation district and make a positive impact in the community. Born and raised in Michigan, she has a passion for the incredible natural resources that our state has to offer.

While she is a lifelong enthusiast, traveling to various forest types around the world brought ambition to help the trees at home to the forefront. With educational and hands-on experience in helping communities with their forests, she's ready to bring those skills to the Conservation District.

When she's not on the job, her favorite things to do are hiking and visiting local music venues. All her other personal time is spent with her horse and her dog. She of course has a favorite tree: the Eastern White Pine. Major dislikes for Autumn are few and far between, but the list does include ticks.

She is grateful for the patience of the community members during this period of adjustment and learning. After being given some time to settle into the new position, she hopes to jump into serving our community in the near future!
