This summer, I had the privilege of working as a Social Media Intern at DVCC. As part of this experience, I had the opportunity to visit one of the DVCC Safe Houses and sit down with Andrea, a Residential Advocate who works closely with the survivors and families DVCC serves.

Andrea shared more about her role, the work she does each day, and how the different departments across DVCC come together to provide comprehensive support. She also gave me a glimpse behind the scenes at the Safe House, which gave me a better understanding of the experiences families go through on their journey toward healing and recovery.

Every member of the DVCC team plays an important role in creating a safe, caring, and empowering environment. Andrea, in particular, has a crucial role in helping clients feel respected, comfortable, and valued while creating a warm and supportive atmosphere within the Safe House.

Thank you, Andrea, for making the Safe House a welcoming place for everyone who walks through its doors. Thank you to all of the dedicated DVCC staff for the work you do every day to support survivors of domestic violence.

As I leave DVCC to begin my second year of college, this experience will have a lasting impact on me. I am incredibly grateful for the knowledge and insight I have gained this summer and for the opportunity to be part of an organization that makes such a meaningful difference in the lives of survivors and families. I feel fortunate to have had the opportunity to help spread awareness, amplify DVCC’s mission, and encourage the community to come together to create a safer and more supportive environment for survivors.

DVCC is so grateful to Board Member, Billie Gastic-Rosado, PhD, for using her voice to bring this important issue to the forefront through this thoughtful op-ed published in the Stamford Advocate (link below).

We are proud of the leadership and commitment our board brings to our mission. Speaking openly about domestic violence—and the need for prevention, education, support, and systemic change—is essential to creating safer communities.

Lorraine Collins, our Volunteer & Outreach Coordinator, has a special message to share! 💜

Every evening is an opportunity to provide a warm meal for the families and individuals staying in our safe house.

One of the most meaningful ways to support DVCC is by donating dinner. That is why we are especially grateful for the National Charity League, New Canaan, who provides a safe house meal bi-weekly. Thank you, NCL, for your service and generosity.

Anyone can provide dinner like NCL by preparing a homemade meal, purchasing a meal, or making a financial contribution to help cover the cost.

Interested in providing a dinner? Reach out to Lorraine at [email protected] or (203) 918-4394 to learn how you can sign up and make a difference.
