📸 Strength. Strategy. Solidarity.
Under the vision of Director LaShawn English, we gathered for the 2025 UAW International Women in Leadership Conference and achieved incredible progress together. We took action, shared knowledge, and built the foundation for stronger advocacy in our workplaces and beyond.
🔥 Our impact:
✅ Met with members of the International Executive Board
✅ Learned about the legal landscape for workers related to pregnancy, sexual harassment, and abortion from the National Women’s Law Center
✅ Gained insights on overcoming resistance as leaders from the Executive Director of the Worker Institute, Cornell University
✅ Explored leave policies and collective bargaining strategies with a Paid Leave Attorney from A Better Balance
✅ Addressed gender-based violence and harassment through delegate survey results and discussed how to strengthen protections in our CBAs with Attorney's from Futures Without Violence
✅ Discussed current legal realities of reproductive freedom and how our contract language can evolve to protect women and working families with Attorney's from the Center for Reproductive Rights Union
✅ Explored how to be Instruments of Leadership and lead with emotional intelligence
✅ Strengthened our understanding of our role in upholding ethics within our Union
✅ Completed a bargaining simulation by sector with our Director, LaShawn English, a National Negotiator
✅ Drafted CBA language to support the retention and success of women and working families
✅ Took direct action during our "Hands Off Day of Action" Rally, making 250 phone calls to legislators and sending 209 postcards
This is more than a conference—this is a movement. Our leadership is just beginning. 💪
