The City has declared a Snow Emergency from Sat 2/21 @ 3:00 PM through Wed 2/25 @ 8:00 AM, unless sooner terminated.

As of Saturday @ 1:15 PM, the National Weather Service has declared a Blizzard Warning, forecasting 11 to 19 inches with winds gusting as high as 47 MPH.

Make sure your generators and cars have enough fuel, and you have everything you need before the snow starts tonight after 1:00 AM, and expected to be in full force by tomorrow @ 4:00 PM.

Today, Mayor Simmons declared a Snow Emergency, effective at 3:00 pm on February 21 and extending through 8:00 am on February 25, unless sooner terminated.

Stamford is expected to receive significant snowfall this weekend, with the bulk of the snowfall occurring Sunday afternoon through Monday morning. High winds are also expected.

Vehicles parked on a designated snow emergency route and/or alternate side parking roads must move their vehicles or be subject to ticketing and towing. The Bell, Bedford, and Summer Street Garages will be open and free during the snow emergency.

Motorists should stay off the roads to allow crews to safely and efficiently clear snow.

More information on snow removal and winter weather resources can be found on the City of Stamford website: https://www.stamfordct.gov/residents/winter-weather-and-snow-resources?fbclid=IwY2xjawQGxANleHRuA2FlbQIxMABicmlkETJuaGljVHpYQTJrTTlBRnRMc3J0YwZhcHBfaWQQMjIyMDM5MTc4ODIwMDg5MgABHgP2UxReUeFVUxGE-k35wRhhPifkwC_8puygnosnME1-pO-eCK1kc-Zpw2Oh_aem_-Db6CUWK9YsYpRxoFEQOOA.

Due to new federal guidelines from the U.S. Department of State, The Ferguson Library must stop offering passport services February 13.
Under this directive, 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations are no longer permitted to process passport applications. Moving forward, passport services may only be provided by designated government agencies.
After February 13, you can access passport services locally at the post office on Camp Avenue, and for urgent travel needs at the Connecticut Passport Agency on Canal Street.
For more information, you can call the Passport Office at (203) 351-8248.

Ferguson Library Board of Trustees Chair R.J. Mercede said, “Despite this loss of crucial funding, the Ferguson Library remains committed to providing free critical services to the greater Stamford community.”
---------------------
“It has been an honor to provide this service for more than 25 years and we are very disappointed by the State Department’s new directive,” said CEO Alice Knapp. “Our dedicated staff, many of whom are bilingual, has served the Stamford community with passion and dedication.”
The Ferguson Library has offered passport services since 1999 and last year processed almost 8,000 applications. The library's passport office brought in $368,000 in 2025.
We are actively exploring sustainable funding alternatives to reduce the impact this change will have on services.
---------------------
“The Ferguson Library is a cornerstone of our community, and this federal decision will have real impacts on the services so many Stamford residents rely on,” said Stamford Mayor Caroline Simmons. “While this change is deeply disappointing, the City remains committed to working with the Ferguson Library as it explores new funding solutions and continues its vital mission to provide free and equal access to information for all.”
---------------------
If you have concerns about this decision to close the Ferguson Library passport office, we encourage you to contact your federal representatives.
U.S. Congressman Jim Himes
U.S. Senator Richard Blumenthal
U.S. Senator Chris Murphy
