By operating shelters, transitional housing and permanent housing we can end homelessness and housing instability rather than provide only a temporary fix.

Founded in 1879, Inspirica is one of the largest providers of housing and support services in Connecticut, striving to end homelessness and housing insecurity by helping individuals and families achieve independence. We serve single women, families, people with mental illness, and persons living with HIV/AIDS, working across the spectrum of people who are homeless rather than just one segment. We address not just the physical part of homelessness, but all the reasons a person becomes homeless.

Our Empowerment Center provides year-round training for our adult residents through our EEFE program, equipping them for success in finding and keeping employment. Educational opportunities include Nursing Assistant Certification and Security Guard Card classes, making them eligible for jobs that pay a competitive wage and offer future advancement, leading to lasting stability as they work to better their lives.

Our volunteers help ensure that individuals and families facing homelessness receive the nutrition they need through our meal provisioning program at our Family Shelter and Women's Shelter; we're constantly reminded how the simple act of preparing a meal nourishes the soul.

Measured across participants in our Empowerment program, individuals and families provided Emergency Shelter and moved into Permanent Housing, and community members served through our Harvest for Hope and Holiday Wishes events, the need for our programs and services continued to expand in the last year, reaching over 5,000 individuals, including single women and children.

Inspirica celebrates Tai, Dolores, and Siyane, three of our residents who completed the CNA certification program through our Empowerment Center's partnership with Excel Academy and have become Certified Nursing Assistants!

Victor Bloise, our Empowerment Center Director, shared: "Passing the state exam is no easy feat. Tai, Dolores, and Siyane accomplished this while living in shelter, working hard to meet their program goals, maintaining employment, and caring for their children and families. Their perseverance and commitment to creating a better future for themselves and their families are truly inspiring." Congratulations!

During RBC BlueBay's Global Volunteer Week, a dedicated team came together at our Franklin Street campus to build a beautiful pergola with an assist from our Facilities team. While one group brought the pergola to life for our residents, another rolled up their sleeves to refresh the surrounding grounds. As part of their Global Day of Giving, a group from AXA XL (our 2026 Gala honoree) rolled up their sleeves for a landscaping and excavation project at our Franklin Street campus recently, creating room for expanded organic gardening for our Youth Center's after-school program.
