What an unforgettable evening at Evening to Shine! ✨

The smiles, laughter, and pure joy shared by these incredible children and their families reminded us what this event is all about. Every child deserves the chance to feel special, celebrated, and shine bright—and shine they did!

What a weekend!

Casting For Kids was truly an incredible event, and the smiles on the children’s faces said it all.

Friday’s Evening to Shine welcomed more than 128 children, and Saturday’s Casting For Kids brought together 32 kayakers and an amazing 1,642 children—bringing the weekend total to over 1,800 participants! That’s absolutely phenomenal!

Every child walked away a winner this weekend, making memories that will last a lifetime. Even our resident eagles decided to put on a show, adding a little extra magic to an already unforgettable event.

Paintsville Lake State Park was filled with laughter, excitement, and family fun all weekend long. A huge thank you to everyone who helped make this event such a success.

If you’ve never experienced Casting For Kids, start making plans for next year—you truly don’t want to miss it! 🎣🦅❤️

Last nights kickoff to Casting for Kids started off on a beautiful evening here at Paintsville Lake with their “Night to Shine”. Event. Sech a big time had for so many young ones and their parents. Today’s event starts off with Kylie’s Kids Kayak Event at 7 and then the Main Event starts at 9:30 with Casting for Kids main event. Registration starts at 7:30 and the event starts at 9:30. Come out and enjoy a day of absolute fun!! All kids that signup will walk home with free fishing gear and toys. The weather is gonna be perfect and the view phenomenal.

Just a few short days away from the best events around!!! Bring your kids out to one of Eastern Kentuckys biggest kids events. Remember Friday starts out with ,”Evening to Shine” for special needs children and then on Saturday it’s the,” Free Kids Fishing Tournament “. Registration for Friday starts at 5 pm and on Saturdays it starts at 6:30am. Mark those calendars and come out to Paintsville Lake!!

A life jacket can’t save your life if it’s floating on top of the water and you’re sinking to the bottom. Having a life jacket on your boat, even if it’s “readily accessible,” is not good enough. Please Wear It so you can enjoy boating another day.

After thoughtful consideration, we have decided to postpone Trail Days 2026 so we can take full advantage of one of the most beautiful times of the year in Johnson County. 🍁🍂🍁
Fall gives us the perfect opportunity to showcase our outdoor recreation, scenic trails, beautiful hillsides, and the natural beauty that makes our county such a special place to live, work, and visit! 🍂🥾🛶🐴🍁
We are excited to use this change as a way to make Trail Days even better and to highlight the outdoor activities and destinations that shine during the fall season.
