Harris County will have over 800 voting locations on November 3rd. Each location NEEDS election Judge and an Alternate Election Judge. One from each party. These are Paid positions!! Not volunteer. We need all spots filled with ethical Judges. Ones that do not turn a blind eye when people without ID come to vote. When old timers would say... "I remember what I was doing on the day that (fill in the blank) happened, like it was yesterday". I remember them saying that and all the while I was laughing inside thinking that they were joking or something. Now I am that "old timer" remembering everything that happened on this day 19 years ago, and it makes me sad all over again. I cannot maintain the anger that it caused because that would be detrimental to my own health, but I can maintain the vigilance that it raised. I can remember the tears I shed for the people that were jumping off the buildings because they knew they had no rescue coming and they would rather fall to their death than be burned alive.
We, as a people.... no... We as a Nation must remember those people and why they died and who caused their deaths. Not in anger but with determination that it will never happen again.

244 years ago the Continental Congress adopted a paper that would be the death sentence for 9 of the 56 signers. All of the signers pledged their LIVES, their fortunes and their honor. If the war had been lost many more would have been executed. These men were facing one of the best armies and navy in the world at that time and yet they still signed that wonderful document.
Let's honor these Patriots by not only shooting off fireworks and eating BBQ but also with a moment of silent reflection. How many of us today have that kind of courage?

Heading to the Republican Party of Texas State Convention in July!!
After spending several hours at the SD 17 convention on Saturday the 20th of June I have to report that it was refreshing to see Parliamentarian rules followed so well. There were some heated debates but they were resolved peacefully. We even had one tie vote on a very key plank in the platform.

I am very sad to announce that a good friend of mine was laid to rest today. Rudy Sutherland.
He was a highly acclaimed investor and entrepreneur with bachelors and graduate degrees in business, finance and accounting from the University of St. Thomas (where he taught), the University of Illinois and Stanford University. He served as a President of his Home Owner’s Association and most important to him he was a First Gulf War Combat Disabled Retired US Army Officer, a husband and father to two sons.

This photo was taken nearly 1 year ago today.
I will miss him very much. 😢
