On Thursday night, we trained on maximizing water flow from a fire hydrant. Pumping large amounts of water at fire scenes requires lots of training and practice. Everyone learned something during this drill, from our newest members to our most experienced. Great job by all who attended!

After a very busy 7 days being dispatched to 45 calls (including medical calls, vehicle accidents and a large structure fire), firefighters took some time to gather on Sunday morning and enjoy a homemade breakfast. We spend a lot of time training and responding to calls together, so it's nice to slow down and catch up when there's a little down time. Special thank you to Cassidy for preparing a fantastic meal!

Tonight, members of Station 45 conducted a rapid drafting drill at the pond located at the corner of Diamond Ledge Road and Chaffee Road. From the time ET 145 arrived, it took less than 10 minutes to begin flowing 1,000 GPM. Our members train constantly on water supply operations to remain proficient in this critical skill, which helps protect property and save the lives of our district’s citizens.

On Tuesday night, Stafford and West Stafford firefighters responded to a structure fire in Monson, MA. Initial dispatch was just before 5pm. Members returned and had all equipment back in service by 10pm. This was a multiple alarm fire that required extensive manpower due to the amount of fire and hot conditions. Mutual aid is critical in rural areas, and we're happy to support our neighboring fire departments when the call comes in.
