Roadwork crews will continue working on South Broadway for the week of Sept. 7, 2026, beginning Tuesday after Labor Day.

Two-way traffic will stay open, but no parking is allowed along the arterial sections where work is being completed. Please slow down and use caution when driving near crews or in lanes where the pavement has been removed.

Roadwork crews will be working in Downtown St. Louis for the week of August 31, 2026. The team has collaborated with businesses as well as sports and entertainment organizations to keep disruptions to a minimum.

It’s milling and paving season and you may see our crews out on the streets.

So, where does all that broken up asphalt go⁉️

The cold planer breaks up the asphalt and feeds it into the dump truck. It then gets recycled and blended into new hot-mix batches or is used for base material for roads, parking lots, or other construction.

A story that could have ended in tragedy last week instead became a story of survival, as an employee of the St. Louis City Street Department rescued a baby left alone in the middle of a busy street.
