Yesterday, the staff of DHS/SLAAA (St. Louis Area Agency on Aging) recognized June 15 as World Elder Abuse Awareness Day. Please help us raise awareness by sharing this post!

An estimated 5 million, or 1 in 10, older Americans experience elder abuse, neglect, or exploitation. Working together across our networks, we can generate awareness and foster action to end elder abuse. For questions regarding reporting Fraud or Scams, call the St. Louis Area Agency on Aging at (314) 612-5918. For the Elder Abuse and Neglect Hotline, call (800) 392-0210.

Let’s work to keep everyone safe as we age. Learn more at Health.Mo.Gov/weaad

World Elder Abuse Awareness Day is June 15th.

Older people are mistreated more often than we think due to the lack of supports for older people in our communities. It doesn’t have to be this way. Get involved in creating a stronger society that safeguards our communities and prevents abuse.

Expose ageist ideas and norms, prevent elder abuse! https://ncea.usc.edu/weaad
