SMP Scam Warning! If you are mailed a plastic Medicare card, don't "activate" it. Medicare is not sending plastic Medicare cards. This is a scam. If you get this letter, please report it to the SMP.

Yesterday, we lit the Missouri Capitol dome purple in recognition of Elder Abuse Awareness Day.

Far too many vulnerable adults fall victim to abuse, neglect, and financial exploitation.

Anyone who suspects a senior or disabled Missourian is being abused, neglected, bullied, or exploited should report to the Missouri Adult Abuse and Neglect Hotline at 1-800-392-0210, which is operational from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m., 365 days a year. Online reporting is also available 24/7 at Health.Mo.Gov/abuse.

World Elder Abuse Awareness Day is June 15th.

Older people are mistreated more often than we think due to the lack of supports for older people in our communities. It doesn’t have to be this way. Get involved in creating a stronger society that safeguards our communities and prevents abuse.

Expose ageist ideas and norms, prevent elder abuse! https://ncea.usc.edu/weaad

Make sure to check on older adults during this time of extreme heat.

🌡️ Dangerous heat is expected across the St. Louis area beginning Tuesday and continuing through Thursday, with heat index values potentially exceeding 105°F.

Now is the time to prepare. Stay hydrated, limit outdoor activity during the hottest parts of the day, seek air-conditioned spaces when possible, and check on older adults, young children, and neighbors who may be more vulnerable to heat-related illness.

Taking simple precautions can help prevent serious heat-related health impacts. Stay informed and stay .

🎉 What a fantastic way to wrap up Medicare Fraud Prevention Week!

Today, we visited the Five Star Senior Center, and it was our biggest turnout of the week! The crowd had an absolute blast playing Senior Medicare Patrol BINGO.

🎰 Everyone went home with a new T-shirt and custom MFPW puzzles to keep the learning going. Most importantly, our guest speaker shared vital tips on how to prevent, detect, and report Medicare fraud. 🛡️

A huge thank you to the Five Star Senior Center team for hosting this wonderful event and helping us protect our community!🤝💙
