ALWAYS REMEMBER. NEVER FORGET. 🇺🇸

September 11 reminds us of something that has always defined the fire service: bravery above all else.

On that day, firefighters from across the country ran toward danger. They didn't stop to ask what city someone was from, what department they wore, or whether they knew the person beside them. They simply went where they were needed. That is the brotherhood. It stretches across cities, states, and countries. Different patches. Different uniforms. Different stations. But the same heart.

When one of us needs help, we answer.

Today, we remember the loss, but also the love and unity that was found in each of us during one of the darkest moments in our nation's history. We can all strive to carry that forward—to be there for those who have fallen, those who are hurting, and those who simply need someone to stand beside them.

Because a uniform doesn't make you a hero....Your actions do.

It is the difference you make in the lives of others. It is showing up when someone needs you. It is having the courage to step forward when others step back. It is choosing compassion, service, and humanity—even when no one is watching.

Always Remember. Never Forget. 🇺🇸🚒

One of the things our department is most proud of is the exceptionally strong relationship that exists between our Police and Fire departments. This is not the case everywhere, and we work hard every day to maintain the feeling of brother and sisterhood that exists.

The root of our success is shared values, constantly supporting one another, and realizing how important it is to be close to work closely. Both departments are committed to striving for excellence, and regularly hold each other accountable.

While every member of our Red and Blue family is important and equally valued there are always those who stand out. Today we had the honor to promote Sgt. Tomey Foltz to the rank of “Honorary Fireman”, as he moves on to the next chapter of his career. Tomey has been with the Police Department for 19 years and has always been a shining example of what makes our family work.

Best wishes to you Tomey, and always stay safe. We love you brother and will never forget the many lessons and exemplary example you set for all of us.

Today we're proud to celebrate Tim Kirchhoff's 6-year anniversary with the Shrewsbury Fire Department!

Tim is known for his great sense of humor, positive attitude, and a great voice that can often be heard echoing through the halls as he sings his favorite songs. Around Christmastime—his favorite holiday—you can count on hearing a festive tune or two from Tim -his favorite is Dominique the Donkey😆.

This year, Tim has worked incredibly hard on his physical fitness, demonstrating the same dedication and commitment that he brings to his role as a firefighter every day.

As a CPR Instructor, Tim is passionate about sharing his EMS knowledge with others. Whether he's teaching a class at City Hall or educating community members at local events, he is always willing to help others learn lifesaving skills.

Above all else, Tim's greatest joy is his family, especially his energetic and rambunctious boys, who keep him on his toes when he's off duty.

Thank you, Tim, for six years of dedication, service, and laughter. We're proud to have you as part of the SFD family! 🚒👏🎄

Today we're proud to celebrate Jon Baeten's 9-year anniversary with the Shrewsbury Fire Department!

Jon truly believes that the details matter, and that mindset is reflected in everything he does. He works hard to ensure he's always prepared when the tones drop, taking pride in being ready for whatever the next call may bring.

When he's not responding to emergencies, you'll likely find Jon in the fitness center, staying in top shape and committed to maintaining the physical readiness the job demands. He is passionate about his family, especially his two wonderful daughters, who mean the world to him.

Around the firehouse, Jon is known for his love of music—especially heavy metal—and for communicating through an endless supply of movie quotes that keep the crew entertained.

Thank you, Jon, for nine years of dedication, professionalism, and service to the Shrewsbury community. We're proud to have you as part of the SFD family! 🚒👏

Today we're proud to celebrate Ryan Peterson's 4-year anniversary with the Shrewsbury Fire Department!

Ryan is deeply dedicated to the Shrewsbury community and takes great pride in serving as a firefighter. He's often the first to volunteer for community events and extra shifts because, simply put, he loves what he does.

Ryan is growing into a true leader within our department and is frequently relied upon to mentor and train new recruits. As a CPR instructor, he is passionate about sharing his knowledge, and he's always looking for ways to further his education—even if it means attending classes on his own time.
Whether he's sharpening his skills or committing to his physical fitness, Ryan is constantly striving to be the best firefighter he can be.

Thank you, Ryan, for four years of dedication, professionalism, and service to the Shrewsbury community. We're proud to have you on the SFD team! 🚒👏
