Yesterday, SLHA Executive Director Latasha Barnes joined the Realtist of Metropolitan St. Louis to share more about our Bridge to Homeownership Program and its goal of helping 500 HCV participants make the leap from renting to homeownership.

We’re grateful for the enthusiasm and support from our local real estate community, and especially encouraged by the real-life success stories shared by realtors and lenders who have already helped HCV residents navigate the homebuying process and achieve homeownership.

Partnerships like these are essential. When housing and real estate professionals come together, we can expand opportunities, remove barriers and help more HCV participants turn their homeownership goals into reality.

The 28th Annual Missouri Institute on Meaningful Aging Conference kicked off yesterday in Columbia, bringing together older adults, community leaders, and advocates for meaningful conversations about aging with purpose and intention.

SLHA Executive Director Latasha Barnes, Parkview TAB President Mr. DeWayne, and several senior residents were proud to take part in the conference, which features this year’s inspiring theme: “Review, Reset, Renew: Rebirth.”

The theme encourages participants to prioritize self-care, embrace advocacy, strengthen neighborhood connections, and recreate the life they want.

It’s a powerful reminder that every chapter of life brings opportunities to learn, grow, connect, and begin again.

The conference is presented by Lincoln University and the Paula J. Carter Center on Health and Aging.
