Today, we're extending a huge congratulations to our executive director, Emily Koenig! This week, the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater St. Louis honored her with their National Award of Merit for providing outstanding support to local Clubs. Emily couldn't be at the event, so our deputy director, Tyrone Ford, and our Board Vice Chair, William Douthit, accepted the award on her behalf.

Meet our new practicum student, Dalia Paris-Saper! 🥳

Dalia is pursing a Master of Social Work at the WashU Brown School and will be working with us through spring 2027. With a concentration in Social Impact Leadership, Dalia is passionate about the intersection of philanthropy and holistic youth wellbeing. Prior to graduate school, Dalia lived in Washington D.C. and worked as an Associate Director at Orr Group, a nonprofit consulting firm. She received her bachelor's in American Studies from Pitzer College in 2021. Outside of work, Dalia loves swimming, yoga, and finding the best gluten-free desserts.

We're thrilled to welcome her to our team!

Who wants to be part of making this year's RefreshED STL event a meaningful day for local educators and school staff? 🙋🙋‍♂️🙋‍♀️

We are now taking applications to be part of the 2026 RefreshED STL resource fair! We're looking for nonprofit/government organizations providing services that support the mental, physical, emotional, spiritual, and/or social wellbeing of school staff and/or the students and families they serve to help build awareness of the services available in our community.

This year's event is Saturday, October 10, 2026, at UMSL Millennium Student Center. Applications are open now and will close at 8 a.m. on Friday, September 11.

We had a great time with our Outreach Council yesterday, and learned we have some artistes in the group! 🎨🖼️ Mid-way through the meeting, we did a wellness exercise where we each started a drawing then passed it to the person next to us to take over. After several rounds of passing, we took a look at the (gorgeous - and in some cases, hilarious) final products and shared our thoughts on the experience.

Our Outreach Council is made up of communication and outreach professionals who work for our funded partner organizations. We gather quarterly to connect and discuss trends and updates. They are such a supportive group and a joy to spend time with!

It's National Intern Day! Over the years, we've had the opportunity to work with several smart, talented and thoughtful students who have each left their mark on our work. We're grateful to have been a part of their journey. Our next practicum student will be joining us in August, so stay tuned to learn more about her!
