In honor of Mother’s Day, the 100 Black Men of Metropolitan St. Louis came together in service to support young families at Almost Home. Volunteers spent the day preparing and serving a warm, home-cooked meal for residents, creating an atmosphere of care, dignity, and community. Almost Home is a nonprofit dedicated to helping homeless teenage mothers and their children by providing transitional housing, education, counseling, and ongoing support.

Beyond the meal itself, the gesture was a reminder that these young mothers are seen, valued, and not alone on their journey. Conversations were shared, laughter filled the space, and connections were built that extended beyond a single day of service. For the volunteers, it was an opportunity to give back in a meaningful way; for the residents, it was a moment to feel celebrated and supported. Together, the day reflected the true spirit of Mother’s Day—compassion, resilience, and community uplift.
