🌱 From seed to harvest, Lift for Life Academy elementary students are experiencing the full circle of growing food in their school garden.

Through the Garden Education Program, students learn hands-on lessons about:
🌼 Pollinators
🌱 Sowing seeds
🐞 Helpful insects vs. pests
🌿 Plant parts & harvesting
♻️ Decomposition
🥬 Washing and eating fresh produce right from the garden beds

Led by School Garden Educator Erin Bernsen, the program began with students digging into the soil to discover the biology beneath their feet. From planting sugar snap peas in February to harvesting lettuce, spinach, herbs, and collard green blossoms this spring, students are learning where healthy food comes from - one garden bed at a time.

This community fitness challenge honors Bruce Schneider while supporting scholarships and opportunities through the Bruce Schneider Memorial Fund.

Your participation helps a senior attend college and gives current students access to athletics, arts, and activities they love.

🏃‍♂️ Registration is OPEN - Strides for Schneids! 🏃‍♀️

We're honoring the life and legacy of Bruce Schneider with the first annual Strides for Schneids - a community fitness challenge and fundraiser benefiting students at Lift For Life Academy.

Walk, run, or move in your own way. This event is for everyone.

✅ Registration: $35 (includes a Strides for Schneids t-shirt!)
🎯 Goal: 150 striders, each raising $200
📅 In-Person Event: June 20, 2026 at 9am (details to come)

Funds support the Bruce Schneider Memorial Scholarship, which includes:
🏆 The Schneids - $15,000 annual award for graduating seniors who embody selflessness, humility, and a commitment to community

🎨 The Bruce Schneider Extracurricular Fund - $10,000 annual award to remove financial barriers to athletics, arts, and activities

Big things are happening for our trades students! 🔨

ArchKey Solutions Labor Development Manager Tim Culleton recently visited to lead hands-on training, walking students through how to rough in walls on metal studs using materials generously donated by ArchKey Solutions and Milwaukee Tool.

This is exactly what our SOAR program (Student Ownership, Autonomy, and Relevance) is all about: giving students real-world experience that prepares them for real careers in the trades.

We're incredibly grateful to Solutions and Tool for investing in the next generation. These students are the future workforce of St. Louis - and they're ready!
