Normandy's Inaugural Juneteenth Celebration Success!!!
To: Volunteers, Staff, Speakers, Normandy Police Department, Fire Department, Councilpersons, Community Organizations, and Park Advisory Board Members:\
\
I want to extend my sincere thanks to each of you for your hard work, dedication, and support in making Normandy's first Juneteenth Celebration a success. Even though the weather didn't cooperate as we had hoped, it certainly did not dampen the spirit of the event.\
\
The event started with an audience sing-along of Lift Every Voice and Sing, led by the beautiful voice of Jennifer, a member of Murchison Tabernacle CME Church. The RedBird Rookies provided us a T-ball game for as long as they could until the rain. Hunny's located in Normandy provided the food delicious food. Meanwhile, a host of community organizations—St. Louis County Library, Kiwanis, Alexander Archer Foundation, ABC Troopers, AT&T, St. Louis County Public Health, Normandy Historic Preservation Board, Core Collaborative, St. Ann School, Epworth, Bethesda Temple, ASFS Scholarship Foundation, Normandy Police Department, and Northeast Ambulance & Fire Protection District—together provided Normandy residents and surrounding communities with valuable information about youth programs, community resources, and opportunities for engagement and growth. We had attendees from as far away as Jennings, when last checked.\
\
Our speakers' presentations were both inspiring and informative, sharing the rich history of Normandy and black history while highlighting the important work of community organizations, making a lasting impact on those in attendance. The passion and commitment you expressed were greatly appreciated and were in keeping with the message of Juneteenth: freedom, resilience, education, and community.\
\
Events like this remind us of the importance of coming together to celebrate Normandy's rich and diverse history, strengthen our community, and invest in the future of our youth. The success of this inaugural celebration would not have been possible without the collective efforts of our staff, volunteers, speakers, and community partners.\
\
Thank you again for your time, energy, and commitment to the City of Normandy. I am incredibly proud of what we accomplished together, and I look forward to building on this success to make next year's Juneteenth Celebration even bigger and better.\
\
Much gratitude and thanks for all that you do,\
Ms. Yolanda Campbell\
Mayor, City of Normandy
