Metro Unhoused Coalition for Clarity and Education We are a Union of unhoused Missouri individuals, actively seeking equality and equity and fighting against the system perpetuating and sustaining homelessness.

A new way to fight poverty and enhance community and hope help us be the change we need. With the help of Mutual Aid, the union has acquired the house next to the Art House on Greer Ave. The bottom floor and the basement will be storage training events and active programs administered by Marcus M. Hunt. The top floors of building B will be used as transitional housing, focusing on self-sustainabil

ity, financial security, work and life skills, conflict resolution, drug addiction management, and community service and investment. These programs will be overseen by Tamadj Shakespeare and Adelle Cunningham. Building B will also have an audio and video arts and media room/art studio; all activities to be led by Tamadj Shakespeare and Marcus M. Also, with the help of Mutual Aid, the Unhoused Union has acquired the use of a large swath of land and a structure feasible for building out a massively supported camp that can function instead of permanent mass shelter options. We have a goodwill agreement with the landowners and a good neighborhood agreement with the surrounding people suspected to be impacted in response to upcoming legislation like res 201 and protected force from the city. Prolonged exposure to heat can result in hyperthermia. Hyperthermia (sometimes referred to as heat stroke) occurs when the body takes in more heat than it can dissipate. Death or disability occurs if the body temperature gets too high.

A side effect of extreme heat is power failure. Power grids can become overloaded when large numbers of people use their air conditioners at the same time. This makes a bad situation worse because air conditioning is the primary means for cooling a home.

Extreme heat is the number one cause of weather related death in the United States. Between 1992 and 2001, almost 2,200 people were killed as a result of heat exposure. Heat related death outnumber all other weather related events combined. In addition, more than 6,200 people are hospitalized each year due to extreme heat.
