🚨 A Veteran's Final Days: Why the St. Louis Archdiocese Must Act Now to Uphold Father Dempsey's True Mission 🚨
"to witness the Gospel of Jesus Christ by providing transitional housing, food, and essential social services to men in need, while maintaining the dignity of the human person."
Friends, followers, and anyone who CARES about dignity for the vulnerable should not just READ and REMEMBER what the mission statement SAYS, but rather LIVE what Father Dempsey's mission statement MEANS:
Im Jay and I have shared a few stories here because silence only lets problems fester. Today, it's personal and urgent: A close friend, a veteran in his final hospice days, unable to speak, entrusted me with his wishes. Yet, amid suspicions of mishandled belongings and inconsistent stories, I've hit walls No responses, No emails, No returned calls, despite reaching out to those with the power to help.
This isn't just one case; it's a symptom of deeper failures the St. Louis Archdiocese has allowed to persist unchecked for years. Undisciplined behaviors have bred hesitation, confusion, unnecessary complications, and real hardships for already broken men seeking shelter.
But where's the DIGNITY? Rent climbs near market rates for shared rooms without personal appliances allowe One microwave per floor, ignoring needs like diabetic diets or basic healthy eating. Essential building maintenance? Neglected. Social services? Absent or inadequate. I've seen and heard multiple examples where these lapses aren't just oversights.
They are literal and lawful violations of that sacred promise. This isn't transitional support; it's a system run by patterns of manipulation that prioritize anything but the residents' best interests.
The Archdiocese's leadership, including those directly overseeing the director, has the authority to make adjustments. They've received letters, complaints / outlandish as some may seem. They are rooted in a common thread of NEGLECT.
Sitting idle and waiting for the smoke to clear? The air is getting thicker making it harder to breathe. Cracking a window isn't enough anymore. Don't you smell it? the BuildiNG is on fire and We must put it out now, before... before.. it ColLaPPSess.
They point fingers, discredit, make claims they'll "never remember" the full story. But we do.
Proof and examples ready. Time is essence Demand a change that lives the mission, not just recites it.
