In October 2025, the city-wide water meter replacement program was implemented. As of August 2026, over approximately 2200 meters have been replaced however there are still properties that have not yet scheduled or completed the new water meter replacement.

Effective August 18, 2026, the City Treasury and Utility Building will impose a $200 fee on every water and sewer account that has not scheduled the replacement of the obsolete meter owned by the account holder. The fee will be applied to each billing cycle and will remain in effect until the account schedules the replacement. The fee will only be removed after the obsolete meter is actually replaced with a new, approved automated meter reading system as specified by Water Services. Call the Water Treatment Plant to schedule or verify if your meter has been replaced: 810-329-5276.
