To be located at Heartland Park in Wentzville, MO, Jake's Field of Dreams Playground will be an Unlimited Play Inclusive Playground honoring the life of Jake Vollmer -- a place where limitations will be forgotten and Differences are Celebrated! ABOUT JAKE
Jake was like so many other little boys who dreamed of growing up playing sports! At an early age, though, he was diagnosed with Duchenne Muscul
ar Dystrophy. Knowing he would never play like his sports heroes, Jake became the greatest sports fan, cheering for all who played the games he could not. He wanted all kids to be able to experience and have the thrill of being a player. This Playground will help so many kids that share Jake’s dream – no matter what their ability is -- to enjoy the thrill of being on the field as a player side-by-side with their peers.. Jake passed away in 2013 at the age of 18, but he gave us many gifts. The greatest gift of all is his powerful spirit to love and support others!! This playground is dedicated to the kids to share in that spirit. WHAT IS UNLIMITED PLAY? Unlimited Play is an award winning nonprofit organization that builds universally inclusive playgrounds to promote health and wellness and change communities by providing freedom of play for ALL children. WHAT IS AN INCLUSIVE PLAYGROUND? A playground specifically designed to remove physical and social barriers so ALL children, with and without disabilities and/or critical illnesses, can play side by side with their peers and families.
