Waddle Back, Penguins! 🐧❄️

We’re so excited to welcome our penguins back to school after two snow days! We’ve missed seeing all those smiling faces and can’t wait to get back into our routine.

A quick reminder for morning drop-off:
Our staff will be curbside greeting students for 20+ minutes in these cold temperatures, so please help us keep everyone warm by having your child ready to hop out of the vehicle quickly when you pull up. Every speedy penguin exit helps! 😉

Thank you for partnering with us to keep arrival safe, smooth, and as cozy as possible. Let’s make it a great day back!

Due to hazardous road conditions in parts of the District, Tuesday, January 27, will be an AMI Day. All Francis Howell schools are closed and students will learn remotely. Please refer to the snow day packet distributed earlier this year or visit www.fhsdschools.org/ami for more information.

VACATION STATION
For those enrolled in snow day care, Full-Day Preschool and Vacation Station will be available Tuesday at Central Elementary School (4525 Central School Road, St. Charles). Snow Day program hours are 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

AFTER SCHOOL ACTIVITIES
All after school and evening activities at elementary and middle schools are canceled for tomorrow. Activity Directors will work collaboratively with District personnel to make determinations regarding high school events by midday Tuesday. Dear Meadows Parkway Families, Staff, and Community:

After much reflection, I am writing to share that I will be retiring at the conclusion of this school year after a 32-year career in the Francis Howell School District.

For the past 14 years, it has been my absolute honor to serve as the principal of Meadows Parkway. This school has been more than a place of work for me—it has been a second home. The true joy of my career has always been supporting the hundreds of students and families I have had the privilege to know and serve over the years. Watching our students grow, learn, and thrive has been the most rewarding part of my work, and I will dearly miss seeing their smiles each day.

I have also deeply loved leading such an incredible staff and being part of a caring, supportive community. The dedication of our educators, the partnership of our families, and the encouragement from our community have meant more to me than I can adequately express. Your trust, support, and collaboration have made Meadows Parkway a truly special place.

While this decision was not an easy one, I am confident that the district will find an outstanding replacement to continue the great work happening here. My position will be posted on the district website soon, and I encourage you to help us identify the next building leader by sharing the posting and encouraging qualified candidates to apply.

I am fully committed to working tirelessly to ensure a smooth and thoughtful transition so that the positive momentum and great things happening in the Meadow continue long after my departure.

Thank you for the countless memories, the relationships, and the shared commitment to our students. Serving this community has been the greatest honor of my professional life.

With heartfelt gratitude,
Mary Calkins
Principal
Meadows Parkway
