🏆 Monroe Elementary Named a 2026 School of Distinction!

Monroe Elementary earned the Dr. Mary Miller Richter School of Distinction Award from Missouri Schoolwide Positive Behavior Support. This award is the highest honor a school can receive for implementing Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) in Missouri.

At Monroe, PBIS is a part of its identity. Through strong relationships, proactive supports and data-driven decision-making, Monroe has built a community where students thrive.

They've seen:

✨ 30% reduction in discipline referrals
✨ Improved attendance
✨ 100% APR score
✨ Strong systems of support for all learners

Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum and Instruction Dr. Earl Draper said it best:
"Over the past several years, Monroe Elementary has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to implementing PBIS with fidelity, fostering a positive and inclusive school culture that prioritizes the success of all students. Their dedication to building strong relationships, refining systems and proactively supporting students has made a profound impact on both academic achievement and school climate"

Congratulations to the Monroe staff, students and families on this achievement. 👏

🌊 Splashing into summer! ☀️

Students in our Extended School Year (ESY) program enjoyed Water Day today after spending the week working hard to continue their learning.

Big thanks to Assistant Superintendent of Student Services & Special Education Mrs. Ashley Jones for snapping these pics. 📸

♾️ It may be summer, but our teachers and staff have been hard at work 💪

For the past two years, the Math Curriculum Committee has thoroughly reviewed state math standards, examined new instructional resources, and fully redeveloped SCSD’s math curriculum. And last week, they finished!

This work was led by Caitlin Cromien, one of our curriculum coordinators, and we are so grateful for her commitment to this project. Ashton Sullivan, teacher at Lincoln Elementary, shared, “Her process is completely streamlined and flawless. She is incredibly knowledgeable and puts so much time, effort and research into everything she does. Her wonderful leadership style and overall professionalism stand out most.”

🏫🔧 Big things happening to SCSD roofs 🏫🔧

Crews have been hard at work on two restoration roofing projects at Hardin Middle School and Coverdell Elementary School.

They've begun resurfacing the roof at HMS. The crew sealed all the joints and edges where leaks like to sneak in, then started laying down protective coating layers from the bottom up. They're finishing the final top coat this week, which acts like a weatherproof skin over the whole roof.

At Coverdell, crews fixed the drains so water flows all the way through instead of pooling, sealed and coated large sections of the roof, and made sure every pipe poking through the roof is properly waterproofed.

Work like this is made possible by the incredible support of our community. Thanks to voter-approved Prop SCSD, we can use bond dollars to fund these projects. This investment ensures we can continue to make a real difference for students and staff across the district.

🚌 Best Bus Drivers Ever 💙

On the last day of school, students on Bus 21 made sure to recognize someone who made a difference all year long.

At Jefferson Intermediate School, “pins” are a way students pass along kindness and positivity. Covered in colors and encouraging messages, they are given to people who have made a positive impact. Today, students chose to pin their bus driver, Ronnell, for the care, encouragement and positivity he brings each day.

It's clear he has made an impact this year.

🎓 Before graduation on Sunday, seniors from both SCHS and SCW returned to Jefferson to take part in a tradition they missed out on years ago. 🖊️

Every year, sixth graders on the Legends team sign the wall in Room 401 before leaving Jefferson Intermediate School. But because of COVID, this group never had the chance to add their names before moving on to middle school. Their teachers invited them back to finally leave their mark, share some pizza, and reminisce about their sixth grade year together.

🎓 One last time. 💙

Recent graduates from St. Charles West High School (and even a few alumni from Nerinx Hall and Francis Howell) returned to where it all began as they walked the halls of Harris, their elementary school, one final time.

Graduates reunited with former teachers, shared words of wisdom to current Harris students, and gave plenty of hugs. Current Harris Elementary School Hawks came out to cheer the graduates on as they head into their next adventures.
