The 2026 RCU Facility tours kicks off next week with the second tour of the year. We will start at Liberty Tire's recycling facility and then drive about 6 miles to tour Natural Ventures Recycling facility. The tour(s) will conclude shortly after 12 noon.
Liberty Tire Recycling (1398 N. Beck St., Salt Lake City) Start time - 10:00 am
Liberty Tire's Salt Lake City plant recycles more than 4.5 million tires annually, grinding them down into crumb rubber used in everything from artificial turf to rubberized asphalt. As the premier company in the tire recycling industry, Liberty collects and recycles nearly half of North America's scrap tires, transforming them into high-quality rubber feedstock for mulch, playground surfaces, turf in-fill, and road materials. Watching mountains of discarded tires become the very pavement under your feet or the playground your kids run on is a surprisingly powerful experience — a visit here turns an abstract concept like sustainability into something you can literally see and touch.
Natural Ventures Recycling (2904 W. 500 S., Salt Lake City) Start time: 11:15 am
Natural Ventures is a precious metals recycling company specializing in catalytic converters, automotive cores, and EV batteries, servicing the Rocky Mountain Region and beyond with a focus on cleaner, safer technologies. The facility recycles a wide range of non-ferrous metals including hybrid and electric vehicle batteries and e-scrap materials that are reshaping the future of the auto industry. For anyone curious about where EV batteries and precious metals actually go at the end of their life, Natural Ventures offers a fascinating, real-world look at the supply chain behind tomorrow's green economy.
