FULL RIGHTS FOR HAITIAN IMMIGRANTS NOW!

Yesterday, the Department of Homeland Security claimed they arrested 380 Haitian immigrants in Springfield Ohio in a single day. This number has been disputed by local organizations on the ground who have identified the total number of detentions at just 57 in local facilities. This inflation of enforcement follows an order which required former TPS holders to wear ankle monitors upon the termination of TPS by the Trump Administration. Just last week, Pierre Damas Bel - a Haitian student - died by su***de after being forced into this racist mass surveillance.

Now more than ever is the moment to build the mass movement here in Ohio against ICE terror. We demand full legal rights for Haitian immigrants, justice for Pierre Damas Bel, and the abolition of ICE now!

Justice for Pierre Damas Bel!

Hundreds gathered in Dayton tonight to honor the life of Pierre Damas Bel. Pierre’s death is on ICE’s and Trump’s hands. His coworkers joined us on stage demanding justice, and we will fight until ICE is out of Springfield, the ankle monitor program is stopped, and Haitians are granted permanent protected status!

Justice for Pierre! Abolish ICE!

Join us in vigil for the life of Pierre Damas Bel.

A 20-year-old Haitian student athlete, Pierre Damas Bel, died by su***de after being subjected to the constant surveillance and pressure of an ICE ankle monitor. His death is a devastating reminder that the deportation machine inflicts terror far beyond detention centers and borders - and that we must continue to demand full legal justice for all!

As August comes to a close, let us remember that Black August was never meant to be confined to a single month.

Black August is a call to carry remembrance into action. It is to honor the lives and struggles of Black revolutionaries and political prisoners. To confront racism, imperialism, exploitation, and state violence. To recognize that liberation requires more than words. It requires study, discipline, organization, solidarity, and collective action. Black August reminds us that resistance is a practice. The struggle for justice does not end when the calendar turns to September.

As Ohio enters another election season, Greg Levy for Senate campaign for the U.S. Senate is part of the struggle in which these questions of justice, power, and collective responsibility are at the forefront. We must build a better system. It starts right here in Ohio.

May we carry the lessons of Black August forward ❤️‍🔥

‼️JUSTICE FOR LORENZO AND JOAN!‼️

On Saturday, July 18th at 1pm, Dayton will hit the streets as part of the National Day of Action to stop ICE's murderous killing spree. The deaths of Lorenzo Salgado Araujo and Joan Sebastian Guerrero are the direct result of the Trump administration's horrific assault on working-class immigrant communities.

We refuse to let this violence go unchallenged - we demand justice, equality, and full equal rights for immigrants! Join the Greater Dayton Peace Coalition, the Party for Socialism & Liberation, and all those who stand for justice in standing up against ICE's regime of terror!

Let's break down that sentence...

"Families living in Permanent Supportive Housing...":
Previously homeless households sought help from the government to find shelter. There are 8 housing communities in Dayton with resources funded by Housing and Urban Development (HUD) federal department to provided resources such as: medical and transportation assistance, job training, and more. There are 1,436 families in Dayton who need this assistance.

"...will be loosing the that 'permanent' support..."
In the latest update to funding, HUD has completely removed Permanent Support funding. It seems the meaning of permanent has been changed.

"...unless the city can prove that the causes for losing homes are decreasing."
Rather than provide funding support for neighbors and community members to have shelter, the HUD wants cities to compete for the funding by proving that job training and addiction treatments are being provided. Those resources are necessary, but pulling the permanent funding out from under our neighbors is a direct cause for increased counts of homelessness.

This messaging truly reinforces the idea that there have always been two Americas:
the America of the exploiters, and the
America of the exploit
