On April 29, 2026, the Springfield Police Department responded to a shooting in the 5100 block of E. 11th Street. Officers arrived on scene and located two individuals suffering from gunshot wounds. Both were transported to a local hospital. One victim, a 17-year-old male, later succumbed to his injuries. The second, a 20-year-old male, was treated and released.

The Springfield Police Department is actively working to identify all individuals involved and determine a motive for the shooting. At this time, investigators believe this was a targeted act of violence and not a random incident. Anyone with information is asked to contact Investigator Raven Rowland at (850) 872-7545. Anonymous tips may be submitted to Crime Stoppers at (850) 785-TIPS.

“We know there are individuals in the community who have information about this incident,” said Chief Barry Roberts. “I urge them to come forward. Silence only allows this cycle of violence to continue.”

We would like to thank the Bay County Sheriff’s Office, Panama City Police Department, and Florida Highway Patrol for their ongoing assistance in this investigation.

On April 18, 2026, Amy Marie Brown, 43, of Panama City, was arrested by the Alleghany County, Virginia, Sheriff’s Office on a warrant for attempted first-degree homicide issued by the Springfield Police Department.

On April 16, 2026, Brown arrived unannounced at her ex-husband’s residence in the 2900 block of Avon Road. An argument began at the front door. During the altercation, Brown produced a handgun and fired multiple times, striking the victim in the left hand and on the left side of his head.

The victim drove himself and his daughter to a family member’s residence and was then taken for medical treatment. He remains hospitalized in a stable condition.

A warrant for Brown’s arrest on a charge of attempted first-degree murder was obtained on April 16. Investigators determined Brown had fled the state, and the warrant was adopted by the U.S. Marshals Service.

On April 18, Brown was located at a motel in Alleghany County, Virginia, and taken into custody by the Alleghany County Sheriff’s Office.

Additional charges are expected.

The Springfield Police Department thanks the Panama City Police Department, Bay County Sheriff’s Office, Alleghany County, Virginia, Sheriff’s Office, and the U.S. Marshals Service for their assistance in the investigation.
