We’re learning, growing and getting into the groove!

These first few weeks of school are all about building relationships, settling into routines and making new connections. Every day, our students are learning something new, and being here matters! When students miss school, they miss valuable instruction, classroom experiences and opportunities to learn alongside their teachers and classmates. Even a few missed days can add up over time.

Let’s keep the great momentum going! Attendance matters because our students miss out when they aren’t here.

And to our incredible teachers and staff, thank you for all you do each day to help our students learn, grow and thrive. Our community appreciates you! ❤️

One District. One Purpose.

🚲 Feitshans Elementary is getting ready to RIDE! 🚲

Feitshans received an incredible gift last week, the All Kids Bike Kindergarten PE Learn-to-Ride Program is coming to our school!

A huge THANK YOU to American Flat Track and its fans for supporting their Quarters for Kids campaign, helping bring this amazing program to our students. We are so appreciative of their generosity and investment in our kids! ❤️

And the excitement was REAL! Watching our students climb onto the Strider bikes for the first time, seeing those huge smiles and hearing the giggles and cheers, absolutely melted our hearts.

The All Kids Bike program gives students the opportunity to learn an important lifelong skill right at school through an engaging eight-lesson curriculum, specially designed bikes & helmets.

The program is now active in more than 1,800 schools across all 50 states, helping more than 180,000 children learn to ride each year. We are thrilled that Feitshans students will be part of it!

🎤 Your Voice. Your Ideas. Your District.

The first Superintendent’s Student Roundtable of the school year is officially in the books! 🙌

Students from across District 186’s three high schools came together to meet with Superintendent Dr. Terrance Jordan, share their experiences, talk about what matters to them, ask questions and exchange ideas about how we can continue making our district stronger.

And the conversation doesn’t stop here! 💬

The Superintendent’s Student Roundtable is open to ALL students at all three District 186 high schools. It’s an opportunity to:
Share your ideas and perspectives
Talk openly about your student experience
Bring forward ideas for positive change
Learn more about how our district works

The Roundtable meets once a month from 3–4 p.m.

Next meeting: October 7 @ LHS! See you there!!

🎉 HAPPY FRIDAY !

Two weeks down, and we’re off to a GREAT start! 📚✨

Our students are learning and growing, while our teachers and staff are keeping them engaged and focused.

We’re proud of the way our students are showing up on time, prepared and ready to learn.

Thank you, families, for helping make attendance a priority and for getting our students where they need to be: in school and ready to shine! 🌟

Two weeks in… and we’re just getting started!

BIG STEM NEWS FOR ONE OF OUR DISTRICT 186 STUDENTS!

We are incredibly proud to celebrate Veer Garg, who has been named one of the Top 300 Junior Innovators in the 2026 Thermo Fisher Scientific Junior Innovators Challenge (JIC), a premier national STEM competition organized by the Society for Science.

Veer’s journey in this competition began during his 8th-grade year at Franklin Middle School, where he developed and submitted his STEM project with the support of his science teacher, Mr. Troemper.

Now a freshman at Springfield High School - Illinois, Veer continues his journey as the national competition recognizes the Top 300 Junior Innovators from across the country. 🔬

He was one of only nine students selected from Illinois and the only student selected from Central Illinois.

The Top 300 represent some of the brightest middle school STEM talent in the country. More than 60,000 students participated in regional and state fairs this spring before the top 2,000 students advanced to the national competition.

We’re also proud to celebrate Mr. Troemper, who will receive a letter of commendation from the Society for Science for his support of STEM talent and for helping inspire students like Veer to explore, create and innovate.

Congratulations, Veer! 🎉 Your achievement is a wonderful reminder that curiosity and innovation can take our students far beyond the classroom.

We are proud to see you representing District 186!
