🧪 September is Public Health Laboratory Appreciation Month!

Behind every test result is a team working to protect the health of Illinois communities and the environment.

Illinois EPA’s accredited laboratory analyzes more than 32,000 samples each year, from drinking water and groundwater to soil and fish. The lab also works with 500+ drinking water facilities statewide, providing critical data that helps ensure Illinois’ water is safe.

Our laboratory team plays an essential role in protecting Illinois’ environment. This month, we’re recognizing the people behind the work that helps keep Illinois safe. 👏💧🧪

At the Environmental Council of the States (ECOS) conference in Wyoming, Illinois EPA Director Jennings joined other state environmental directors for a “Bears Den” style panel, offering feedback on emerging technologies being made available to state EPAs.

And since we were in Wyoming, a “Bears Den” felt more fitting than a Shark Tank. Director Jennings represented Illinois accordingly. 🐻🏈
